Games released in 2005

The Xbox 360 launches, kicking off the seventh console generation and giving Microsoft a year-long head start before the competition. There's also the Gizmondo, which has a lackluster library, and the company behind it would soon become very infamous.

The Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable start gaining popularity since their releases last year, with several big hits of their popular IPs released for the handhelds. Nintendo also finally starts their online service dubbed Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, years after Microsoft and Sony had already put in theirs.

Meanwhile in Japan, Namco publishes their last original Arcade title, THE iDOLM@STER, before the merger with Bandai and it becomes a big hit over there until the 2010s.
