Unused Moves#
|
|
Please elaborate. |
- Every character has a jumping punch string that went unused. The jumping punch would have acted as the first hit of each character's jab string.
- Ayane, Kasumi and Hayabusa all have unused wall runs with multiple follow-up options: P , K and P+K.
- Ayane has an unused wall version of her 7P jump, with follow-up options: 7P.KK would roll off the side of the wall and perform her 236K forward spin kick.
- Leon has an unused 6PP2KK string, with the last hit being the same animation as his old 66KK attack.
- Leon has an unused 2_KKK string, with the last hit being the same animation as his old 66KK attack.
- Eliot has unused 2PP6P/2PPPP strings.
- Eliot has an unused standalone version of the 3KP punch with no associated input.
- Eliot has an unused double arm strike.
- Eliot has unused 8PPP/8PP2P/8P4PP strings, which is his 8P going into his jab strings.
- Christie has unused 2KP strings. Her 2KP would have acted the same as Zack's 2KP strings, where it would lead into the rest of her jab strings.
- Kokoro has an unused 2-hit punch string with no associated input. In the E3 build of DOA4 its input was 6KP. This move would later be added in DOA5U as 236P+KP.
- Helena has unused 88PK/22PK follow-ups to her old 88P/22P sidestep attack. They are the same move as her Bokuho 4K low sweep attack, except they always end in Bokuho stance.
- Jann Lee has unused K2KK/K2_KK strings, which are the same as his 2KK/2_KK attacks.
- Kasumi has unused 2KK/2_KK strings. 2KK would later get used in DOAD.
- Kasumi has unused KK2KK/KK2_KK/PKK2KK/PKK2_KK strings.
- Kasumi has an unused Parry Hoshinpo PPKK string. The attacks are her P+KP going into 33KK.
- Hayate has unused 6P4/PP6P4 strings, which are the same move as his 7P backflip.
- Hayate has an unused 7PK attack.
- Hayabusa has an unused Rising 4_KK attack.
- Bayman has and unused backwards tank roll with follow-up attacks, 1P+KP and 1P+KK.
- Brad Wong's Rising K and Rising KK may at one point have been able to choose whether to end in lying stance or not. He has unused Rising K2_ and Rising KK2_ inputs, similar to how some of his other moves can optionally go into lying stance.
- Tengu has an unused 4PP/PP4PP moves, which is the same attack as his BT 2P.
- Tengu has an unused 66P2P move, which is the same attack as his BT 2P.
- Tina has an unused 2_KKP string, which is the same attack as her 2KP.
- Tina has unused PP2_KKK, PP2_KKP and PP2KP strings. They are her 2K attack strings coming out of her jab string.
- Tina has an unused 3KKP string, which is the same attack as her 3KP.
- Zack's old 88P/22P sidestep attacks got new animations in DOA4, and got follow-ups: 88P4 into sway, and 88PP into his ducking punch string. He can no longer access them, though, as they got rid of those attacks in the final release.
Inaccessible Costumes#
- Kokoro's kimono (it does appear in the game in the Opening) was supposed to be a usable costume. It was apparently cut since it was lagging the game.
- A blue coloured variant is also accessible to the payer via patching.
- The pink kimono would be officially accessible to the player for the first time in Dimensions and the blue one in Dead or Alive 6.
- While only Kokoro's kimonos are the only costume (intended for the player) to be inaccessible, Cutscene-only costumes can also be used via patching, though with various degree of bugginess .
Unused Playable Character#
Alpha-152 was originally intended to be also usable by the player. It is still possible to add Alpha 152 to the character select screen via patching (and with further patching displace the random character to the next slot). The various bugs and serious lack of polish indicate that the idea didn't go very far. Funnily enough, she has a tag throw with Kasumi that would get used in Dead or Alive 5, this throw would also be shared with Phase 4 (storywise, the 4th phase of the project that created alpha-152).
Revisional Differences#
A patch was released on March 9, 2006, that made several revisions to each characters moves as well as some network stability improvements.
