Ratchet: Deadlocked is the fourth game in the Ratchet & Clank series, which is notable for being much more linear and mission-based without freeroaming than its predecessors and causing debate amongst the fans because of it.
Sub-Pages#
Unused Graphics#
Ted Price#
In the files for every level of the game, there is an unused picture of Ted Price, the CEO of Insomniac Games, photoshopped to have a mullet. According to developer Mike Stout, Carl Grande (the Asset Manager for Insomniac) was fond of making humorous pictures such as this one to serve as temporary assets during development.
Early Combat Bot Commands#
Placeholder icons for the combat bot commands. There's also an icon for "Mine" that doesn't appear in the final.
Unused Crate#
In the files for the singleplayer levels, there exists an unused crate model with the DreadZone logo on the sides. Its purpose is unknown. Of note is that Deadlocked is the only Ratchet & Clank game where there are no bolt crates, unless the rare Jackpot crate is counted. Perhaps this was meant to not be the case earlier in development?
Unused Audio#

|
To do:
|
There are several pieces of unused audio within the game. Most of it is alternate dialogue for missions, while others were most likely intended as generic dialogue and boss fight quotes.
Cut Hydrogirl Rescue Mission#
Watch on YouTubeThe most interesting of the unused audio clips, as it doesn't relate to any existing missions. According to this audio, there would have been a mission on Planet Shaar that would have involved freeing fellow DreadZone contestant Hydrogirl. Since this mission was cut, Hydrogirl's only appearance (and speaking role) in-game is during the ending cutscene.
Shellshock#
Watch on YouTubeMost likely alternate dialogue for one of the three Shellshock missions on Kronos, or a fourth mission featuring Shellshock was planned. Merc's "Whoa, deja vu..." line is used in game.
Sarathos#
Watch on YouTubePresumably alternate dialogue for the Sarathos missions.
Ace Hardlight#
Pieces of dialogue related to Ace Hardlight, and some dialogue that he presumably would have said during the boss fight with him. The dialogue at the beginning of the video was most likely early dialogue for the fourth Torval mission, in which Ratchet has to destroy an Ace Hardlight statue with explosives.
Gleeman Vox#
Watch on YouTubeDialogue most likely intended for the final boss fight and the DreadZone containment facility intercom. Some of these lines are used in the game.
Unused Cutscene#
Watch on YouTubeThis cutscene suggests that, at some point in the game, Clank was meant to be saved by Ratchet at the Ghost Station. Even though the reason for Clank being in this level is unknown, since he never makes a physical appearance outside of the Dreadzone Station, it is believed that Vox could've kidnapped him.
Cut Weapon Levels#
Although weapons can normally be leveled up to V10 in normal savegames, and up to V99 in Challenge Mode savegames (after buying a then-unlocked upgrade), it is possible to manipulate the game code to increase the weaponry levels further, which does reflect in their overall performance.
V128#
The top leveling weapons can have without negatively altering the normal behavior of the game, meaning it is completely safe to do so.
The game attempts to further level up your weaponry with experience even at V128, however it will fail to do so and return it to V99, the only level at which the game halts weapon leveling.
V32768#
The very maximum leveling weapons can have at all.
An arm set to any level higher than V128 essentially makes the game thinks it no longer exists, since...
- You can no longer pick up ammunition for it.
- It disappears from the Pause > Weapons menu, as well as the quick weapon selection menu.
If all your arsenal is set to >V128, the Weapons menu will show # as the arm name and Paradox ERR as the placeholder description, along with a background image of the Harbinger. Attempting to navigate your armory in this state crashes the game. Navigating the Mods is possible, but it's also wasted time.
Values in the 32769-65535 range also have effect on the weapons' performance, except negatively; they will become weaker than at V1 level, if not completely useless.
Cut Planets#
Three cut planets can be found in the game's code: Space Galeons, Sky Arena and Harvest Outpost.
Unused Items#
Unused Weapons#
Watch on YouTubeFor some reason, the Shock Blaster and The Raptor go unused in the game. The Raptor is actually the original concept for V3 of the Dual Vipers, while the Shock Blaster is a leftover from Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal.
Cut Weapon Mods#
Apparently more weapon mods should have appeared. From what can we understand from the game's files these were Omega Mods. They don't have a description. The Mods are: Hover Mines, Shiny, Shockwave, and Spiffy.
Cut Missions#
Some cut missions can be found, perhaps intended for the cut planets. They are Ace's Daily Run, Spider Versus Spider, Outrun, Outwit, Outlast, The Sky Is Falling!, and Turret Command.

The collar made by Vox that some characters wear is seemingly completely missing in the European and Japanese versions. Only Ratchet seems to be wearing it, probably because it's part of his model. This doesn't affect the cutscene that plays after killing the Eviscerator.
Strangely, in the European version of the game, every instance of Vox, with the exception of Gleeman Vox's name, is replaced with Pox i.e. Pox Industries or Pox News. This can be seen in the cutscene the first time Ratchet flies to the Battledome.

For some reason, in the French version of the game, the Marauder armor was translated to "Imposteur" which translates, expectedly, to impostor.
Japan#
- Online multiplayer is absent.
- Movement is defaulted to 3rd Person.
- The main menu adds an image of Ratchet and Clank along with the game's title.

- The tutorial at the start of the game skips Clank explaining camera controls and instead starts with Al unlocking Ratchet's movement circuits.
- The reference to cheerleaders in Dallas' "This is more fun than a bus full of cheerleaders!" line is changed to DreadZone race queens.
- All armors received a boost in contrast.
