Destroy All Humans! (2005)

In Destroy All Humans!, aliens are invading Earth and they want to harvest your brain stemǃ

Unused Graphics#

Title Cards#

The Wrong Stuff#

The Wrong Stuff was an unused mission featured in Area 42. It was likely meant to be played between the cut A Bovine Too Far and Duck and Cover missions. Voice lines suggest that Crypto would have been required to sabotage the US Army's X-13 prototype, featured in the following mission. The Destroy All Humans! (2020) remake restored this mission along with the original unused sound files.

A Bovine Too Far#

A Bovine Too Far was a cut mission featured in Area 42. It was likely meant to be played between The Mutant Menace and the other cut mission The Wrong Stuff. There are no known voicelines for this mission.

How Scorched Was My Valley?#

How Scorched Was My Valley was an unused mission featured in Rockwell. It was likely the final mission for the level at one point in development, though it is unknown in what specific order this would've been played in the final game. It is unknown if voice lines exist. The title card shows a pixel-long black streak near the top, likely a developer oversight that was not corrected prior to removal.

Invasion Site Icon#

The texture used for the invasion site indicator contains an extra icon of an alien. It is probably the icon that was originally used and the developers left it in in case they ever wanted to switch back to it.

City Bus Texture#

Undamaged

Damaged

A scrapped texture for a city bus. The texture and model for a city bus was found in several builds in Capitol City and Union Town but has since been cut in the retail release.

Unused Models#

Weapons#

Hypno Beam#

Front

Rear

The hypno beam was an unused weapon featured in multiple builds of the game. The targets of the hypno beam would walk towards the player The weapon was scrapped in favour of Crypto 137's mind control abilities. In early builds of the game, the hypno beam model would be also used for the Zapo-matic and the desintegrator ray. Ultimately, the texture and corresponding model remain in the game's files.

Early Desintegrator / Zap-O-Matic gun#

Front

Rear

This model was a dual wield multi-purpose weapon. In earlier builds, the weapon shared the Zap-O-Matic and the Desintegrator ray abilities. In the final game, both weapons received new models and early model remains unused in the game.

Early Majestic gun#

Front

Rear

An unused model that was used by Majestic agents that was present in earlier builds of the game. Since the developers redesigned the weapons for Majestic, this weapon is unused.

Actors#

To do:

  • Document the rest of the unused models and variants.

h1_male_suburban01#

Two unused variants of the h1_male_suburban01 exist that are unseen in the game. The used version only appears in the final cutscene of Televisions of Doom! and not as a spawning civilian in Santa Modesta and Rockwell. h_male_suburban01_var3 has a misaligned texture where the eyes appear to be crossed and the mouth missing the front teeth. This is likely a developer oversight.

h1_male_rural_hillbilly#

This male is seen in various builds of the game, including part of the comedic Outakes archive reel. Ultimately, this male does not appear in the final game.

Front

Rear

h1_sheriff#

This is a character that was seen in front of the Rockwell county fair in the E3 2004 demo. It was cut for unknown reasons in the retail version of the game.

Front

Back

h1_female_taffy#

Featured in multiple promotional screenshots, this character would have spawned in Capitol City. It is unknown why this character is named taffy, nor is it known why it was cut from the game.

Front

Back

h1_waitress#

h1_waitress was a character that was featured in several builds of Rockwell and Santa Modesta. Some later builds show an alternate red dress variant that does not exist in the files of the final game. Like the other unused models, it is unknown why it goes unused.

Front

Back

wally_h_wally#

wally_h_wally was a cut character found at the Rockwell fairgrounds in earlier builds of the game. wally_h_wally shares the same face and body model as h1_sheriff, though wears makeup and a purple outfit. It is unknown if wally_h_wally was meant to be a character or just a pedestrian.

Vehicles#

e_jeep_gunner#

A cut jeep containing a driver (e_jeep_gunner_soldier) and a machine gun turret operator (e_jeep_gunner_soldier_gunner). The jeep does not contain a steering wheel and the machine gun likely was able to be turned. A mildy-disturbing destroyed variant exists, containing pools of blood. While the jeep was cut for unknown reasons, the presence of 'realistic' blood would have likely elevated the ESRB rating to Mature.

e_jeep_gunner

e_jeep_gunner_destroyed

v_delivery_truck#

A cut milk delivery van containing an early model of a driver. It was seen in the 2004 E3 demo build, however it goes unused for unknown reasons.

Front

Rear

v_box_truck#

This cut box truck was featured in Turnipseed Farm. While it is unknown why the box truck was cut, the vehicle tends to drift when making U-turns as it shares the same behaviour as the shorter vehicles in the game.
