Early Title Screen#

BKG_NTU_STARTSCREEN_NTSC.TTL is an early version of the title screen, in which the characters sport 3d renders instead of official artwork in the final title screen (with Jimmy Neutron shown with his design from the movie instead from the TV series).

Cut Characters#

Common/Actors.ini contains a list of all the characters in the game, including several that don't appear in the game at all. Whether they have models and textures or not is unknown. (Gary, Cindy, and the generic fish do appear in the FMV cutscenes, and seem to have meshes associated with them, but they're never actually seen in-game.)

Platform Differences#

• The PlayStation 2 version includes various extras if the player has save files for SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants!, Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, and Barnyard on the same memory card. Having one unlocks alternate skins for the playable characters, having two unlocks concept art, and having three unlocks various cheats. For whatever reason, these were removed from the GameCube version, despite all four games being released on the system.
• The GameCube version uses lower-quality textures throughout the game. This is most evident with SpongeBob's eyes.

Regional Differences#

North America/Australia	Europe

Aside from the change in background color, the European version opts to instead brand the game as SpongeBob SquarePants and Friends Unite!.

This change has to do with how Nickelodeon's shows are distributed in international territories, with many of the series airing on non-Nick channels. In particular, Nelvana held the international rights to The Fairly Oddparents! at the time and still retain the first 5 seasons and game rights to this day., which had previously blocked the international release of Breakin' Da Rules. This branding would continue for the rest of the Unite! series, though the British/Australian releases would interchangeably use both titles.

• The European PS2 version lacks the cross-save bonuses.
