Some really influential games such as Manic Miner and Jetpac are released for the ZX Spectrum, solidifying Matthew Smith and Ultimate Play the Game in the industry. Astron Belt and Dragon's Lair become LaserDisc staples in the arcade, paving way for loads of quick time events. The most successful game of 1983 was Namco's Pole Position.
