Nintendo has created many memorable characters over the years that have lived in the public consciousness for generations. Stanley the Bugman is not one of them.
Despite its title, Donkey Kong 3 is actually a sequel to the 1982 Game & Watch game Green House, eschewing the platforming of previous DK games in favor of shoot 'em up gameplay more akin to Space Invaders. The fact that Donkey Kong wouldn't get another game until 1994 should be enough to tell you how this went over.
Unused Graphics#
Junior#
Evidently, Junior was supposed to appear at some point. These sprites aren't from Donkey Kong Jr. - they're brand new.
Flower#
What's either a fourth stage of the flower's growth, or a different design entirely. Not only was this design used as the basis for the level counter (), but it looks a bit like a Fire Flower.
