This page details one or more prototype versions of Crazy Frog Racer (Game Boy Advance).

General Differences#

  • Both demos have the final music, although in a much lower-quality, compressed state.
  • Both demos have the option to view a demo recording, or to play the tech demo.

R-3D#

This was documented on Forest of Illusion.

This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

  • The copyright screen is barebones and only lists Trenz.
  • The title screen refers to the game as "R3D-Demo V1". It's not known if any other versions of the demo exist.
  • There are two tracks. One can be seen in the demo, while the other is actually playable.
    • The demo track doesn't have collision if you attempt to make it playable.
    • To play the demo track, you'll need to enable the following codes:

03002C38:02

03002C46:00

03002C76:00

03002CA5:00

03002CA4:00

03002C9A:00

  • There are three music tracks.
  • The HUD is barebones: The timer doesn't count up, the "Map" can only be rotated and doesn't track the player's progress, there are no laps, and the speedometer is unfinished.
  • You can pick from two cars in this demo: A slow-moving red monster truck, and a fast yellow car.

Mario Kart XXL#

This was documented on Forest of Illusion.

This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

Dated April 17, 2004, and designed (as the name might suggest) to be pitched to Nintendo. The ROM comes with an instruction file written by Trenz which lists the controls.

This demo uses similar coding to the R-3D one, but contains some differences:

  • Just two music tracks are present, both of which are taken from Crazy Chicken Kart.
  • The game has a proper copyright screen, crediting a "Denaris Interactive", which had been founded by Trenz.
  • There is only one playable character, Mario.
  • Only one course is present, which seems to be present above some islands.
  • The timer now counts up in the HUD, but the lap counter doesn't work.
  • There are a number of yellow dots (very likely meant to be coins) placed throughout the track, but nothing happens if Mario runs over them.
