Tails' Skypatrol

Tails' Skypatrol was one of two Game Gear games to star Sonic's two-tailed buddy (though it originally wasn't meant to), featuring an interesting hybrid between platformer and shoot-em-up but unfortunately suffering from a frustratingly small field of view and being rather short at only 5 stages. It received pretty unfavorable reviews from Japanese critics, which might be the reason why Sega initially passed on localizing it (though it would later be included in Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut and several compilations thereafter).

Unused Graphics#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Go back through the ROM with the sprite palette again to see if any other characters have unused frames.

In the ROM, there appear to be two unused frames for Witchcart, suggesting that the animation for her defeat went through some changes. The unused frames seem a bit more exaggerated, and contrast with the used frames she has for the introduction and boss encounter.

Options Menu#

Hold Up + 2 at the title screen and press Start. The menu title is a bit misleading, though, as it "only" contains a sound test and level select.
