The sequel to Sonic Rush and Sonic's second DS outing, Sonic Rush Adventure introduced Blaze's home Sol Dimension, the obnoxiously annoying Australian raccoon Marine, and Touch Screen seafaring.

Despite being considered superior to its predecessor in most respects, Rush Adventure didn't sell well. Resultingly, it was Dimps' last original Sonic game for a handheld, with subsequent handheld games being tie-ins for the console titles.

Anti-Piracy#

The Korean version of the game utilizes the DS Protect anti-piracy library to ensure that it is not being run off a flashcart or emulator. If any of the DS Protect checks fail, the game will loop back to Southern Island after beating the Plant Kingdom boss without unlocking Machine Labyrinth, preventing any further progression. If a save file was used to unlock later stages, they will also all be locked, too.

In the American and original European release of the game, a line of Marine's dialogue in Coral Cave contained an instance of the word "bugger", which is considered an offensive term in British English; this resulted in the game originally getting a PEGI 12+ rating in Europe. The second European revision reworded this line to remove the word, with this new revision's age rating being lowered to PEGI 3+.
