Light World NPCs

This is a sub-page of Deltarune/Chapter 4/Unused Graphics/Characters.

Toriel#

Toriel facing down-right. Probably intended for the cutscene where she pinches Kris' cheek at the beginning of the Chapter.

Toriel clapping in her church attire. She only claps like this during her dancing cutscene with Sans.

DeltaCH4-spr_toriel_talk_up_church.gif DeltaCH4-spr_toriel_juice_talk_left.gif DeltaCH4-spr_toriel_talk_left_church_unhappy.gif

Toriel facing different directions while talking in her church outfit. In-game, she's located at a corner where talking to her from the left or above is impossible.

Toriel in her church attire walking, with an unhappy expression.

An alternate version of Toriel's wine-swinging animation, in which she and Sans continue dancing. In-game, they both stop after she flings her wine glass up.

Toriel talking while drunk, facing left. She never faces this direction while drunk and talking in-game.

Toriel drunk, looking back while talking. She uses different sprites when drunkingly talking to Sans during this cutscene.

Toriel gasping while drunk.

Rudy#

DeltaCH4-spr_rudy_juice_walk_left.gif DeltaCH4-spr_rudy_juice_walk_up.gif

Rudy walking left and up, with a cup of juice in his hand. He never walks in these directions in-game.

DeltaCH4-spr_rudy_walk_right.gif DeltaCH4-spr_rudy_walk_left.gif DeltaCH4-spr_rudy_walk_down.gif

Rudy walking in various directions without juice in his hand, but with his hand cupped as if he is holding it. He always has juice in his hands when in the church, so these go unused.

Rudy facing north, with his hands at his sides. This appears to be the sprite that corresponds to Rudy's silhouette in Tenna's flashback in Chapter 3.

Asgore#

Asgore walking up, flowers in tow. Unused since he hands Kris the flowers just before this.

Asgore walking up, in his housekeeper outfit. No cutscene with him in Noelle's house has him walk up without holding something.

Spr_asgore_housekeeper_clean_0.png Spr_asgore_housekeeper_peko_0.png
Sprites of Asgore holding cleaning utensils. The word "peko" in the second sprite's filename is part of a Japanese onomatopoeia (pekopeko; ぺこぺこ) meaning "very hungry", perhaps indicating that these sprites were going to be used sometime right before Asgore chows down on the snack tray.

Spr_asgore_housekeeper_down_left_0.png Spr_asgore_housekeeper_excited_0.png Spr_asgore_housekeeper_excited_alt_0.png

Spr_asgore_housekeeper_sit_0.png Spr_asgore_housekeeper_sit_excited_0.png Spr_asgore_housekeeper_sit_excited_alt_0.png
An assortment of unused Asgore sprites with his gloves still on.

Spr_asgore_housekeeper_snacktray_grab_1.gif
Grabbing a snack tray.

Asgore walking down with the snack tray.

Spr_asgore_housekeeper_dejected_right.gif Spr_asgore_housekeeper_dejected_down.gif Spr_asgore_housekeeper_dejected_left.gif
Walking with a sad face while holding a tray.

Spr_asgore_walk_down_housekeeper_unhappy_0.gif
Similar sad face, but this time without a tray.

Asgore eating, with a shocked face. Only the first frame of this is used in-game, during the entire cutscene with Carol.

Asgore kneeling down and chowing down, whilst facing to the left.

Asgore what the hell are you doing?!
An... interestingly named sprite called spr_asgore_piss. Technically not unused since it's the sprite that the Asgore object in the bathroom spawns with, but it gets immediately overridden by another. This sprite is a duplicate of the first frame of his upward walk animation while holding a tray.

The filename seems to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to an Undertale meme where Asgore was thought to be, uh, "watering" the flowers with his bladder when first met, since he has his back to the player while doing so. A sprite in Chapter 1 had the label "notpiss", so this is seemingly continuing this pee-related injoke. At least he's an appropriate place this time.

Carol Holiday#

Carol's regular "walk down" walkset doesn't play long enough to make use of all its frames.

Spr_carol_walk_down_mad.gif Spr_carol_walk_right_mad.gif
Pissed Carol walking down and right. Only the left version is used.

Spr_carol_walk_up.gif
Carol walking up. She only does so while holding Dess' guitar, so this animation goes unused.

DeltaCH4-spr_susie_guitar_carol_grab.gif
Alternate assembled animation of Carol grabbing the guitar out of Susie's hands, complete with slightly different posing on Susie's end. In-game, this interaction is composed of two overlapping animations, spr_carol_guitar_grab and spr_susie_guitar_grab (which each only feature Carol and Susie, respectively).

DeltaCH4-spr_carol_guitar_look_down_0.png DeltaCH4-spr_carol_guitar_look_down_1.png

Carol angrily staring down, likely intended for after she snatches the guitar back from Susie.

Carol walking left with the guitar. She never walks in that direction while holding it, so this animation goes unseen aside from its static first frame.

Spr_carol_guitar_hold_right.gif
Carol walking to the right while holding the guitar in her left arm. Unused because she's holding the guitar in her right arm (except when she's walking up, where she holds it in her left arm again (curse upon thee Toby for such inconsistencies)).

DeltaCH4-spr_face_carol_7.png
An unused variant of Carol's fourth portrait, with an added ominous stain on her face.

DeltaruneCH4-spr_face_carol_8.pngDeltaruneCH4_spr_face_carol_9.png
Two portraits of Carol looking bothered. May have been intended for the scene that plays when trying to leave the Holiday Manor while the Santa doll closest to the front door is turned on (where she scolds Kris for wasting the batteries).

Berdly#

DeltaCH4-spr_face_berdly_9.pngDeltaCH4-spr_face_berdly_10.pngDeltaCH4-spr_face_berdly_16.pngDeltaCH4-spr_face_berdly_17.png

In Chapter 4, all of Berdly's Light World face sprites were slightly tweaked to more closely resemble the shape of his Dark World faces, and new Light World faces were added based on his new Dark World faces. Some of these new faces currently go unused. The former two sprites would later be used in Chapter 5.

Warrior#

An old version of the Warrior's pounding animation.

Pizzapants#

DeltaCH4-spr_npc_burgerpants_stand_rain_old.png DeltaCH4-spr_npc_burgerpants_stand_rain_twitch_old.gif The date didn't work out... DeltaCH4-spr_npc_burgerpants_stand_rain_surprise_read_old.png DeltaCH4-spr_npc_burgerpants_stand_rain_surprise_old.png

Old, less exaggerated versions of Burg- I mean, Pizzapants' overworld sprites.

Smear frame for Pizzapants leaving his stand to get "Pizzarina"'s cookies. In-game, this effect is heavily altered, so the original smear is never seen in this form.

Nice Cream Guy#

DeltaCH4-spr_npc_nicecream_phone_old.gif DeltaCH4-spr_npc_nicecream_phone_sad_old.gif DeltaCH4-spr_npc_nicecream_phone_smile.png DeltaCH4-spr_npc_nicecream_phone_nervous.gif DeltaCH4-spr_npc_nicecream_phone_nervous_look.gif

A bunch of animations of the Nice Cream Guy fiddling with his phone. In-game, the only time you see him using his phone are at the diner booth with Bratty and right outside ICE-E's, in which he's primarily facing away both times.

QC#

QC walking right, with food on a tray. She never walks right with food on the tray in-game.

QC walking left, without food on a tray. Same sort of situation as above.

sans#

DeltaCH4-spr_sans_shrug1.png DeltaCH4-spr_sans_shrug1_dark.png

Sans shrugging, and a variant with a grey outline for whatever reason.

Sans waving. Only the first frame is used in-game, during the cutscene with Sans dancing with Toriel.

Minor/Unnamed NPCs#

Spr_grandma_boom_flyer_0.png
Ms. Boom holding a flyer.

Shyren facing right in her church attire. She only faces left in-game.

Spr_catty_dad_cringe_0.png
A sprite of Catty's Dad cringing in his church outfit. It was probably meant for the cutscene where Catty goes up to read the holy words after the hymn is sung, as the other 3 people who sang the hymn use a similar expression at that point. It was likely cut due to how out of character him cringing at Catty would be.

The dragon NPC facing upwards.
