This is a sub-page of Deltarune/Chapter 4.
WIP It Good#
Gingerbread House, the song that plays in Noelle's house, is internally referred to as noelle_house_wip. Similarly, the song Dark Sanctuary is internally referred to as church_wip.ogg.

Rudy Wreckt#
The animation of Rudy getting splashed by Toriel's juice is labelled spr_rudy_juice_wreckt [sic].

Home Alone 7: Heart-Removing Panic#
Several sprites for the sequence in Noelle's house where you explore independent of Kris have the phrase "homealone" in their name (eg. spr_homealone_solidblock), in reference to the classic film franchise Home Alone. This doubles as a remnant from various earlier ideas for the sequence, where you'd have to set off Home Alone-eqsue contraptions to progress or (in Andrew Hussie's suggested version) complete a bust parodying the Home Alone film poster.

But Actually#
The filename for the final version of the Dark Sanctuary candles being lit up is spr_dw_church_candle_unlit_but_actually, in reference to an unused, placeholder variant having the same filename, minus the "but actually" part.

Tao#
In room_dw_church_pianopiece_left, you can find this strange dancing metronome-like Darkner standing on a small platform that is inaccessible to the player by any normal means. The sprite used for this character is referred to as spr_dw_church_tao internally.
Extremely Verbose Names Intended For A Pumpkin Bullet That Shows Up If Your Taking Too Long#
Jackenstein's red pumpkin bullet has some very... verbose filenames.
The pumpkin itself is named spr_guywhoappearswhenyouhavetakentoolonginaghosthouse. Its mouth is named spr_guywhoappearswhenyouhavetakentoolonginaghosthousebutjustthemouth, and the sprite of it getting scared is named spr_guywhoappearswhenyouhavetakentoolongbutgotanastysurprise. ... And the animation of it bringing back your tutu is named spr_guywhoappearswhenyoudroppedyourtutu.

Other Strange Filenames For A Pumpkin Bullet That Shows Up If Your Taking Too Long#
These aren't the only strange filenames associated with Jackenstein. For example, the hand that comes out when it gives you back your tutu is labelled spr_jackohandtern. The sprite of the small-voice pumpkin is called spr_jackolantern_but_politer.

Gerson's Study Locked Door Oversight#
global.flag[847] is the flag that tracks the player's progress on playing the large organ in the Dark Sanctuary. Normally, the player is intended to use the SheetMusic item, which sets the flag to 1, to trigger the scene where Kris plays the organ to open the locked door in Gerson's study, which will then set the flag to 3. However, the door only checks if the flag is above 0, allowing the player to skip playing the organ entirely and enter the door after simply using the SheetMusic item.
Ralsei's Toriel Flames#
The sprite for Ralsei's flames that he shoots out of his hand in his "LightUp" ACT are taken directly from Undertale. However, they don't share the same filename. The name in Undertale is spr_firebullet, while in Deltarune it's spr_toriel_flame.
Undertale Combat Thing#
The sprites for the Undertale attack meter used during Wicabel's ACT are labelled in the files as spr_undertale_combat_thing. Seems not even the devs know what it's supposed to be...

Known Wicabel and Organikk#
In the Second Sanctuary, leaving Gerson's Study after entering it will spawn an encounter with a Wicabel and Organikk. However, presumably due to an oversight, this encounter doesn't have its own battle message defined, so it instead uses the default one only meant for test enemies. This oversight is even odder due to the fact that encounters that don't have start-of-battle messages typically blank out their battle message instead of using the default one.

Asgore's Da Boss#
The sprites for Prophecy panels relating to Queen and Tenna have "boss1" and "boss2" respectively in their names. A Prophecy panel depicting Asgore holding a flower is referred to as "boss3", which prior to Chapter 5's release, led many people to conclude he would be the chapter's main boss. While he wasn't, this naming scheme combined with the panel's associated text describing "the Flower Man" implies that the image was actually meant to refer to Flowery, who fits the description, has a battle theme by the same name, and is depicted in his Light World form alongside Asgore as a red herring.

Steam Deck#
The game is able to check whether or not it's running on the Steam Deck, but is barely used by the game. It's only used by two things, to have the Maus in the Mike room use the controller input instead of the mouse, and disabling the microphone mechanics, which is required for the Mike boss fight. This is odd however, as the Steam Deck has a built-in microphone. Despite this, the Steam version still lacks the screen borders present in the console ports.
TwistedSwd Titan Damage Buff#
The code in obj_heroparent_step_0 for buffing Kris's damage against the Titan and the Titan Spawn actually checks for two weapons: the BlackShard, which can be seen in-game as it's obtained from beating the Knight in Chapter 3, and the TwistedSwd, a fusable weapon introduced in Chapter 2 that's currently still unobtainable.

Out Of Place Guitar#
In the room where Susie breaks the final Prophecy, when trying to backtrack to previous room, you'll be blocked from doing so with dialogue saying that another hand pushes you back. In the script for this interaction, after the final text box, a variable is set to play the sound snd_guitar_hit_03 (which is one out of three guitar sounds that Susie makes in Noelle's home) at 0% volume.

Prefix Mistake#
The sound used for (presumably) the Knight's phone messages incorrectly uses the spr_ prefix used for sprites instead of the usual "snd_" prefix. Whoops.

Oddities with Recognized Melodies on the Church Piano#
Watch on YouTubeIn the First Sanctuary Dark World, there is a big piano that allows the player to play a bigger range of notes than the other in-game pianos. Reactions from Susie and Ralsei to certain melodies that you play were programmed in, as the sequences of notes are stored as strings. A few of them however are oddly transcribed, and are likely to not be found by the player, if they don't play the sequence of notes exactly in the same way as written in the code. A few of them don't seem to have been recognized by most just yet. (Note that the letters used aren't following traditional music notation, but rather are the literal letters used in the strings to identify each individual note, they are also all lowercase in the code.)
- A, D, E, F, D, D, C, D, B, A, D, E, D, C, D, D
- "Your Dad's Best Friend" from Chapter 5. Nothing is odd about this transcription, but this melody was unknown by the general public at the time of Chapter 3+4's release, and was previously speculated to have something to do with the Annoying Dog. As Chapters 3, 4, and 5 were originally meant to be released as one package before 5 was split off to expedite 3+4's release, this teaser acts as a remnant of that initial configuration.

- Randy Newman & Lyle Lovett's "You've Got a Friend in Me" from the 1995 film Toy Story, notable to Toby Fox fans for being the subject of many a joke edit on Toby's Tumblr page (including one that became the subject of semi-tongue-in-cheek fan theories about Deltarune itself). Even here the transcription is odd - the sixth note could be swapped for another "c", and one "f" note that's supposed to be placed before the last one seems to be missing.

- This same "generic" reaction is also used for what appears to be notable piano songs "Chopsticks" and "Heart and Soul", while every other checked melody gets unique reactions (and dog).
Cartoon Chomping Titan#
The sound that the Titan makes during the cutscene where the gang run from it taking parts of the floor sounds menacing... But it's actually just snd_chomp, otherwise used when Kris wheelbarrows Susie over the snacks, slowed down greatly.

Tea Bonus#
The script scr_teaamount has been updated, originally used in Chapter 2 to determine the healing values for the character-flavored tea that can be purchased in the Cyber World. If Ralsei is told "It's ok not to smile" after the Last Prophecy cutscene, then Ralsei Tea would heal Kris for 100 points instead of 60. The tea items are dummied out after Chapter 2 and are replaced with "Rotten Tea", so the only way to see this change is in the script.

Kill Me#
obj_dw_church_knightclimb, the object that controls the cutscenes and falling sword bullets in the room where you climbing up to the Knight at the end of the Dark Sanctuary, has a rather interestingly-named variable called killmebro defined in its Create event, where it's set to -4 and then never called again. Either this variable is a remnant from some now-deleted code, or the developer that programmed this sequence was having a very rough time.

Removed Library Tileset#
There is a tileset by the name of bg_dw_library_tileset that consists of only a single blank tile. Despite this, a large number of unused rooms in the game (and a few used ones) contain tile layers using this tileset, which appear completely empty. Given that some of these rooms contain no other tile layers, resulting in them appearing pitch black, it can be assumed that there was once an actual tileset here that was removed. Unfortunately, tilemap information within the rooms seems to have also been lost when this tileset was removed, so even if it could be restored, the tiles would likely still not appear in rooms.
PS Vita OS Checks#
For whatever reason, Chapter 4 contains several checks for the PS Vita's OS despite the platform not being supported by GameMaker, only being able to be checked for as a remnant from GameMaker Studio 1.4. The following changes would be triggered if the PS Vita's OS were to somehow be detected:
- The size of rectangles drawn using
ossafe_fill_rectangleandossafe_fill_rectangle_colorwould be increased by 1 pixel. This also happens if the Playstation 4 or Playstation 5 OS is detected. - In Small Mike's dialogue describing each Mike Minigame, the Switch 2 version's minigames would be described instead of the PC and non-Switch 2 console ones.
- The text on the wall in the Mike Room describing each minigame would also describe the Switch 2 version's minigames instead of the PC and non-Switch 2 console ones
- The game will prevent the microphone from being used in the Mike Minigames like in the other console versions... or at least it would have if not for the object this code is located in,
obj_initializer, being unused since Chapter 1; the final game usesobj_initializer2instead.
