The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are Microsoft's fourth generation of consoles, and the successors to the Xbox One.
This time around, Microsoft shipped two vastly different hardware configurations with the goal of supporting both 4K and 1080p resolutions.
The Xbox Series' Dashboard is largely a continuation of Xbox One's, with additional features such as Quick Resume and dynamic themes.
Revisional Differences#
In 2022, the boot animation was shortened as part of a firmware update that introduced Energy Saver mode to the console.
The boot animation was fully redesigned in May 2026 as part of the Xbox rebrand.
Interestingly, when playing a game via Xbox Cloud Gaming, it utilises the prior animation - however, this may change in the future.
