Rockman Complete Works

To do:
DeGamer's post includes a lot more unused content, which need to be ripped at their correct resolutions.

Rockman Complete Works was a series of ports of the first six Mega Man games to the PlayStation, now including a "Navi Mode" (where players would receive hints), remixed/borrowed arcade game music, and an enemy database, among other neat extras.

While not initially released in the West, the Complete Works ports would serve as the basis for the Mega Man Anniversary Collection versions, albeit with much of the extra content removed and with a rather questionable translation of the Navi text. The first four games would eventually see an American release on the PlayStation Store, while the last two inexplicably didn't.

Since the games are functionally near-direct ports of the NES originals, practically all of their unused content can also be found here. As a result, this page will only include content unique to Complete Works.

Unused Text#

したからふきだす
火ばしらは…

氷の武器でかため
られる…

Present in Rockman 1 is this unused hint for Navi Mode. It was meant to be used in Fire Man's stage to tell players that the fire pillars could be frozen with Ice Slasher, but due to a programming error, it goes unused. This hint was (poorly) translated for Anniversary Collection, but still goes unused there.

ピピの攻撃はいやだわ!!

Rockman 2 has its own unused hint for Wily Stage 1, in which Roll voices her hatred of the Pipi enemy. Unlike the Fire Man hint, this one appears to have been disabled intentionally.

Oddities#

  • All sounds in Rockman 1 have are pitched one semitone higher than usual. In addition, the shooting and landing sounds are taken from the European NES version. The rest of the games do not have these quirks.
