Unused Code#

Jetpack (Item.lua)#

In the directory \Game\assets\lua there is a file known as Item.lua. All this file contains is commented out code for a jet pack feature. This code has multiple different functions. This code can be reactivated by simply removing -- from the beginning of every line.

JetPack:Update#

This function is what causes the jet pack movement. When the jet pack is given to the player using the addjetpack command, this function will activate for the player. All this function does is push the player up and down using this vector: Vector3(0, dt * 10, 0). This function causes the player to jitter up and down when the jet pack is active.

Item.lua commands#

There exist two Lua commands that are commented out. When the characters that make these lines commented are removed, the code is fully functional.

Description

listplayers

I list connected players :)

0

This command goes through every player connected to the server and prints out their Guid as an integer using this code: connector:Print("Player connected: " .. player:GetGuidAsInteger());.

addjectpack

I give players jetpacks! :)

0

This command goes through every player connected to the server and uses the player:SetItem function to give everyone on the server the jetpack item.

Commented-Out Commands#

There is one command listed as a command that still needs to be added. This command is commented out and doesn't have any functionality.

Description

listcommands

I list commands :)

0

This command is practically the same command as the one listed below it in the code that is activated. Reactivating this command shows it doesn't work, whilst the used one does work. There is one other difference though. This command is listed as a server command and is assigned to a value used in some sort of addcommand function.

TestClient.bat#

This file isn't normally used to launch the client, as its functionality is broken. The .bat file uses the command cmd.exe /k "Rex-Kwon-Do Server.exe" c to try and launch the client. Two behaviors have been spotted from these parameters. Opening this file without having the server open prints Starting client... into the console and doesn't do anything else. Opening this file whilst having the server open prints Starting client... once, and Our connection request has been accepted. twice into the console, whilst not doing anything else.

Unused Test Models#

There are two sort of unused models inside the game files that can be imported for testing purposes.

test#

Found in Game\bin\win32\test.lxfml. This is an interesting model of a tree with very flat leaves.

test_brick_import#

Found in Game\bin\win32\test_brick_import.lxfml. This model shows all brick types in four different colours.

Unused GUIs#

Probably intended to be used as HUD elements.

test.swf#

A blue square that does nothing, found in \Game\assets\gui.

Window.swf#

Video showing off all the interactive elements and animations. (The dark gray is in reality transparent.)

A "Video Settings" menu, found in \Game\bin\win32. Might have been meant as a placeholder taken from a different project.

Internal Name#

The game is referred to as Rex Kwon Do, a reference to the film Napoleon Dynamite.
