The North American home release of DDRMAX2: Dance Dance Revolution, feature-wise, is a blend of its arcade counterpart with its sequel, Dance Dance Revolution Extreme, with additions such as the Beginner difficulty and the presence of official music videos.
Unused Graphics#
Note: All of the following graphics can be found in DATA/FILEDATA.BIN.
Oni/Challenge Mode#
While the Oni/Challenge mode was replaced by Nonstop Mode, some of its assets can still be found unused.
Attract Sequence#
A leftover from the original Japanese release.
Joint Premium#
Graphics for this arcade-exclusive functionality can be found among the Mode Select assets.
Song Selection Screen#
A shoshinsha mark graphic, possibly intended to be displayed in songs with a rating of 2 or lower in Basic, as is in Dance Dance Revolution 5thMIX and its home port.
Despite that no long versions exist in this game, a graphic that would have likely been used to denote one exists.
Gameplay#
A graphic for an unused "Freeze!" judgement, which would have likely be seen while holding a freeze arrow.
These 5thMix-styled Game Over and Danger graphics don't seem to be used.
