Dance Dance Revolution Extreme (Arcade)

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme is the last DDR game ever. Oh, wait...

Unused Mode#

DDRextremeAC-solo.png
The Solo mode, which was a feature in some versions of Dance Dance Revolution 4thMix and 4thMix PLUS, is still in the game's coding, and can be enabled with the following MAME cheat:

    <cheat desc="Enable 6 Panel/Solo Mode">
        <script state="run">
            <action>maincpu.pd@8001c1d4=34020001</action>
        </script>
        <script state="off">
            <action>maincpu.pd@8001c1d4=00001021</action>
        </script>
    </cheat>

Unused Graphics#

How To Play#

Inside of the folder data\lang\japa, which contains some interface graphics, are the assets from Dance Dance Revolution 5thMIX's How To Play screen, which are never displayed.

The used How To Play text graphic, inst_25.cmt, also contains these unused graphics, which come from DDRMAX.

Song Selection Screen#

A shoshinsha mark graphic, found within the graphics in data\gpct\select\mslob_25.cmt. It was possibly intended to be displayed in songs with a rating of 2 or lower in Basic, as is in Dance Dance Revolution 5thMIX and its home port.

Freeze!#

The unused Freeze! judgment, which would have likely appeared when holding a Freeze Arrow, returns again, found within the graphics in data\gpct\dance\gmob_25.cmt.

Old Staff Roll Graphics#

The folder data\gpct\demo, which mostly contains graphical assets seen in the game's attract sequence, also contains the graphics from DDRMAX's One More Extra Stage staff roll.

Unused Videos#

DDR Extreme removes nearly all of the videos in the previous three releases due to space limitations. However, there are still somehow four videos on the game disc that never ended up appearing in any songs:

  • JSBAPA.SBS (a video with green lines that is similar to other videos used in LOVE AGAIN TONIGHT ~For Melissa MIX~)
  • JSRERA.SBS (a blue video with gears and a turntable)
  • JSTERA.SBS (a video with three computers with "DANCE", "FUTURE", and "REVOLUTION")
  • JUHMSA.SBS (a yellow video with red numbers and a spike ball wireframe that was pulled from its intended song, MAX 300, for unknown reasons)

Unused Charts#

Several of the game's songs have new unused charts. They can be accessed via a bug in the game's Nonstop and Oni modes.

Comment

蒼い衝動 ~for EXTREME~
(Aoi shoudou ~for EXTREME~)

Double Challenge

Consists of a single 2P-down arrow at the very end of the song.

DAM DARIRAM

Single Challenge
Double Challenge

Perhaps the most well-known of the game's hidden charts, the Single Challenge and Double Challenge charts for DAM DARIRAM don't seem to fit the song entirely. After some research from members of the community, it's been found that the charts fit Captain Jack's GIVE IT UP

DROP OUT (FROM NONSTOP MEGAMIX)

Single Standard
Double Standard

Aside from not containing the 16th arrows near the end of the song, it is otherwise identical to the Challenge charts.

HIGHER (next morning mix)

Single Standard

Consists entirely of left arrows.

Last Message

Single Challenge

Likely a placeholder. Consists of a fast jump-step section in the middle of the song, followed entirely by left arrows, which noticeably have different rhythms compared to the Heavy charts.

LOVE SHINE

Single Challenge

A perfectly reasonable chart, strangely left unused.
Contains rhythms similar to those of the Double Heavy chart.

MY SUMMER LOVE (TOMMY'S SMILE MIX)

Single Standard

Aside from removing some 16th notes, it is otherwise identical to the Single Challenge chart.
