The sparkle of the supernova, again!

Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA 2 introduced key features to the DDR series, like the Marvelous judgment in regular play and the maximum score of 1,000,000, as well as many memorable songs. It is also a quite divisive entry; while it had a lukewarm reception in Japan, it's fondly remembered in the States.

DEBUG MENU( debug only )#

Compared to the previous game, all the functions have been stubbed out, leaving only an option to return to regular gameplay.

QC MODE#

However, the "QC Mode" function is mostly intact. In comparison to the previous game, music no longer plays.

The controls are as follows:

  • Test + 1P Start - Changes the FOOT MODE AUTO parameter. It lists a 90 second cooldown after it can be toggled OFF again, but it can be done anytime.
  • Test + 1P Select L - Changes the panel lighting to UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, and then AUTO again. Changing this while FOOT MODE AUTO is ON resets the cooldown.
  • Test + 1P Select R - Toggles whether the upper lamps are triggered at once or sequentially.
  • Test + 2P Start - Saves something to the memory card.
  • Test + Service - Goes back to the operator menu.

Regional Differences#

  • The Asian releases now use Japanese text instead of English, like in the previous game.
  • Like the previous game, several songs have banners with romanized/translated text in the American release.

Revisional Differences#

  • The song Saturn originally sounded rather different from future appearances, including this game's PlayStation 2 port. Sometime after it was released, the audio was updated.
