Rayman Legends

Developer Cheats#

Like in Rayman Origins the game has debug commands which can be activated through the game's cmdline function. Unlike Origins the option to pass these in as launch arguments has not been removed in the retail release. This is also the only method of passing them in that works without patching the game due to the game's code for reading the cmdline file is not set up correctly for the retail version. Passing in several commands through launch arguments can be done with the delimiter being a semicolon. An example of commands would be: "map=world\adversarial\soccerpunch\soccerpunch.isc;player_nodamage=1" which would result in the Kung Foot map being loaded with the player being invincible. In the Steam version the argument has to be prefixed with a dummy value such as "=1;". This is due to the Steam version always getting the argument "-uplay_steam_mode" passed in, which the game interprets as being part of the commands.

Unused Maps#

A weird map which seems to be used for setting the Wii U GamePad controls. Most likely a leftover from the Wii U version.

Another menu scene, which is most likely a leftover from when you could create your own challenges and send them to friends.

Unused Text#

Inside the files exists multiple text strings which relate to quite a few unused features:

Do you wish to give a Lucky Ticket to [m:1]?

A string which suggests that at some point players were able to give tickets to their friends in-game.

Your gift has been successfully sent.

Most likely related to the above string, or another potential kind of gift, maybe items for example.

It is a new day, my friend! I have placed lucky tickets in all the paintings again! Go get them!

A string which mentions a feature where the Bubble Dreamer would place lucky tickets back in paintings every day.

You're about to launch the 8-bit world. Enjoy the trip back in time where glitches and bad graphics were considered cutting edge.
You're entering a 8-bit painting. Enjoy the trip back in time where glitches and big pixels were considered cutting edge.

Two variants of a string related to the 8-bit levels.

Version Differences#

Wii U#

  • The Wii U version uses the gamepad to control Murfy and do certain things not doable in the other versions.
  • In the second area of "How to Shoot your Dragon", Murfy uses a slingshot to shoot dragons instead of the player using the Flying Punch.
  • There are exclusive Mario and Luigi costumes for Rayman and Globox.

PlayStation Vita#

  • Murfy is controlled via the Vita touchpad, similarly to Wii U. The slingshot section of How to Shoot your Dragon is also present.
  • Online multiplayer exists, supporting 2 players with player 2 as Murfy.
  • There is an exclusive painting named Murfy's Challenges that lets you play new Murfy levels. The levels are "The Burning Dungeon", "Bounce to the sky", "Hot Duck", "Run between the lights!", and "An Architect's Nightmare". The five levels are based on the five worlds.

PlayStation 4, Xbox One#

  • The Xbox One version removes the loading screen.
  • On the PlayStation 4, the DualShock touchpad can be used to scratch Lucky Tickets.

Nintendo Switch#

  • The Nintendo Switch version is known as "Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition".
  • A new painting named "Murfy's Touch" was added, which can only be played in handheld mode. It is the Murfy levels, but the Switch touchpad is used to control Murfy while the main player is controlled by a bot. It features the slingshot section of "How to Shoot your Dragon" only in Murfy's Touch and not the regular level.
  • The Mario and Luigi costumes from the Wii U version are present here.
  • Kung Foot contains a new tournament mode along with single player.

Enemy Bubbles#

To do:
Add these sprites.

Apparently, every enemy in the game has a fully fledged animation sheet for being bubblized, even though they die instantly. The only one that remains used is the giant eel, however. A promotional game called Rayman Legends Beatbox also used two enemy bubble animations, more specifically the Lividstone and the toad. The animations can be seen in a fan made engine addon for unity called Ubi-canvas.

PC Leftovers#

Flipped Glob Plumber UI icon#

On the PC version, there's a leftover icon from the Wii U version of Glob Plumber (the Luigi costume for Globox), the flipped hat one to be extra specific. It's unknown why this was left in.
