Leaked Teaser#

Watch on YouTube

This teaser was supposedly leaked in April 2012 before being deleted by Ubisoft shortly. The publisher of the video had it registered, and uploaded it in December. It is very different from the final.

  • This teaser contains a music track that is never used in the final.

Teensies in Trouble#

  • The footage starts with an outside castle level in Teensies in Trouble. However, there are toads in the background and as enemies, which are only present in Toad Story in the final. The background is similar to the final version's level "Breathing Fire!". Rayman and Grand Minimus are there.
  • Seen here, originally enemies would be bubblized like Origins instead of poofing out of existence.
  • There is then footage of inside the castle where Rayman jumps on disappearing platforms, with signs above them. Some signs become red skulls and are revealed to be spike platforms. He also evades some ghosts, one of which despawns out of existence.
  • Later on, there is a forest level taking place in sunset, which never happens in the final, also having toads. In the middle, behind a log is...a Magician hat? It is likely that the Magician would have given you hints before being revealed as the villain like Origins, however the final has five Magicians.
  • At the end, a dragon is seen in the outside castle level that breathes fire. This dragon design is never seen in the final.

Toad Story#

  • Some footage of what is likely Toad Story happens to be present, taking place in the grass. However, the dark creatures which are only present in Olympus Maximus are present along with the firework mushrooms used to stop them from attacking Rayman. Instead of dying, the creatures just become bewildered with blue eyes and stop attacking.

Olympus Maximus#

  • Some footage of what is likely the level "Shields Up...and Down" is present, where Rayman and Globox are running, jumping and collecting Lums. As seen here, the Lums still use the Origins design.

Leaked Trailer#

Watch on YouTube

There is also a leaked trailer that released around the same time, and was uploaded by IGN. It is about as different as the leaked teaser: very.

  • The logo has a different design for the "Legends" text.
  • A cut online feature is present, where you can see Grand Minimus giving a challenge to Globox: "Win 30 Rubis by scoring 980 Lums in the Ghost's Pit", which would require 5 of the removed currency "Rubis" to play.

Teensies in Trouble#

  • The trailer starts with reused footage from the leaked teaser, showing the outside castle level, but also includes some extra footage of the early dragon.
  • Footage of a castle level featuring Rayman, Grand Minimus and Globox is present, with the Wii U gamepad being used to move platforms up and down while toads are fought. It seems that Murfy would not have been present.
  • Some footage of the cut figurine feature is seen in a forest level similar to the leaked teaser, and a short animation of a Rabbid in a portal is seen before the gameplay with Rabbids as enemies.

Toad Story#

  • There is also reused footage of the dark creatures in the unknown world likely to be Toad Story.
  • Later on, there is footage that looks similar to the level "Ray and the Beanstalk" with a grass monster in the background. As shown in the footage, there would have been figurines (similar to amiibos) that could be used in the game for extra content. For example, a heart would make hearts fall from the sky and have enemies flabbergasted, and a Rabbid would make Rabbids be enemies. The Rabbid sprites were later used in Adventures for the Easter 2016 event, and at the end there is a short joke with an Ezio (from Assassin's Creed) figure about to be placed on the Wii U.

Olympus Maximus#

  • You can see some sort of removed race challenge in Olympus Maximus, also having three ghosts and a "Start" banner at the beginning. It seems to have the same layout as the leaked teaser.

The Neverending Pit#

  • The online feature shows that the area was originally called "The Ghost's Pit". The Lums are also still using their Origins designs, some toads are attackable, and you can see three ghosts of Rayman.

Kung Foot#

  • Kung Foot has an entirely different arena except for the layout. As seen here, Globox's hurt sprite is still the same as Origins.

E3 2012 Gameplay#

Watch on YouTube

Some footage from E3 2012 was released by the official Ubisoft channel. There is a version of live gameplay at the event, and one version without any talking and just gameplay. The gameplay version is seen here. There are a lot of removed features related to the Wii U gamepad, but it is more similar to the final than the leaked teaser and trailer above.

  • The logo is now finalized.
  • The Teensies have much cruder sound effects, likely missing a voice filter. Freeing them also plays a removed sting.
  • Many Teensies are in different places, and they are all male instead of there being female Teensies.
  • The live gameplay version features different text for the multiplayer "press to start" text.

Once Upon a Time#

  • The footage starts with the Once Upon a Time intro seen when starting the game for the first time after the intro cutscene. It is mostly the same as the final, however as seen here the Lividstones originally had a mask on. When the camera pans right at the end, the cutscene fades into gameplay.
  • The gameplay shown is of Rayman and Globox, with Murfy being used with the Wii U gamepad. It is an early version of the level "Once Upon a Time" with different music.
  • A blue creature is seen and is pulled up by Murfy to help Rayman get a Teensy cage. Murfy also swipes a vine to let Lums out of it, and he pulls turnips out like the final Wii U version.
  • Murfy could also touch the tulips on the ground to make them purple and double the Lums given by them.
  • There is no Teensy meter at the top-right.
  • To access the first hidden Teensy area, Murfy would tickle the monster's eyes instead of the monster's mouth opening.
  • The first hidden teensy area was entirely changed. Instead of collecting Lums before saving a Teensy, you would do a cut "Catch 'em All" minigame where you would carry balloon creatures (still seen in the final) with Murfy to the player's area to catch them, and this area would have 200 creatures to catch. Completing the area would give you 100 Lums instead of having you free a Teensy.
  • Originally, to get outside the castle, Murfy would pull a slingshot instead of you using a blue mushroom. There are also Lividstones disguised as turnips.
  • The castle area does not have a rope for Murfy to cut at the start. Instead, Murfy would kill fire ghosts coming from the bottom to help you progress. The castle music is also noticeably different.
  • The second hidden Teensy area was entirely different. Instead of Murfy turning a wheel, you would go on disappearing platforms similarly to the leaked teaser and avoid spike platforms. Murfy would then move over a Teensy to let you free it, and instead of making you leave the moment you free the Teensy, you would go through a door. The area is also where a regular Teensy is in the final.
  • Instead of pulling a lever, Murfy would pull up a spiked wall. There is also a platform instead of 2 hanging rings.
  • In the area with the first platforms Murfy would move, there are fire ghosts coming from the top instead of regular ghosts coming from the bottom.
  • At the first wheel, what is seemingly a hidden platform is present on the left, while a hidden Teensy area is present on the right in the final.
  • Instead of turning a wheel that you would hang on, Murfy would turn a spiked wheel while you wall run.

Unknown Land of the Livid Dead Level#

  • A cut Land of the Livid Dead level is present for a part of it, where Murfy would shoot dragons using a slingshot and fireballs. There are also 2 Teensies in 1 cage at one part. This is very similar to a section of the level "How to Shoot your Dragon", where the Wii U, PS Vita and Nintendo Switch (Murfy's Touch version only) have Murfy on the slingshot.

Grannies World Tour#

  • A version of Grannies World Tour is present where the rock eyes were originally living eyes that Murfy would slap to spawn purple Lums. This is still done in the final Wii U version, but the eyes are not living. There is no fire at the left, there are no Teensies, and the bouncy skulls have a different design. The demo ends at the end of the area.
