Sims reaching hand items (food, bills...) placed on unusual areas and heights. While the former two seem to be intended for Sims grabbing items placed on coffee tables, they were scrapped sometime later in development, being first introduced in subsequent expansion packs.

A Sim lounges in a chair. All lounge chairs in the game use a common sitting loop, however these animations figure an odd exception, since they were designed with a specific object in mind: chair2. Although the object was deprecated very early development, it's mostly known as one of the items available for purchase in the Steering Committee prototype.
- In spite of the fact none of these animations were repurposed for later expansion packs, it's of note that some of the earliest versions of the game's original website contained a picture where a Sim uses a slightly modified representation of the a2o-chair2-idle1 loop.

The first three animations listed here are direct follow-ups to (also) unused files for sims sitting on the floor, hinting that the characters were meant to only sit outdoors, close to a tree. Earlier builds of the game have scripts where Sims pick fruits from trees if their Hunger motive score is low (or urinate at them, is their Bladder is nearly full). In the final build, there are not Sim actions available for tree items at all.
Greeting Interactions#
Remnant of an autonomous interaction in early 1999 builds of the game where Sims opened the door and greeted just-arrived NPCs (most commonly the maid) with a shy-looking wave. This behavior was shortly deprecated (April 1999. See TechnicalEmail, page 80) in favor of a greeting interaction that is manually called by the player by clicking on the intended greetee, and Sims always route to doors and walk through without calling a specific opening/closing animation. ).]] 25 June 1999 19ː39

Leftover animations originally intended for fountain2, an object that can be found in all known prototypes of the game, where it already manifested itself as an old, deprecated item. This fountain differs from the one in the final product because its water structure sits at ground level rather than being the same height as the Sims, which explains why Sims need to bend down to play with its water.

There are two known instances of pre-release screen snapshots displaying a soccer ball as a Buy Mode item (example). However, the object was scrapped late in development. A working set of animations dedicated to the object still exists in its retail releases of the game for both child and adult characters.
A notable time that the player can spot "a2o-kick-ball-hard" is in The Sims Online (a separate release built off of The Sims ' engine), used for both hard and light kicks. In spite of that, it is unknown whether the soccer ball object in The Sims Online has the same sprites and behavior as its deprecated mainline game equivalent.

It seems like the sofa objects were originally designed to need cleaning after a while.

Both "standing" and "sitting" versions of this animations are used in the Steering Committee demo when Sims watch the romance or mystery TV channels (its "sitting" rendition was later repurposed for the chess table object, whenever a Sim loses a game). In the final product, Sims never react to TV programs by crying.

All televisions in the game have private trees that randomly call string IDs for working adult Sim animations depicting a character kicking or slapping a TV set as they repair it, but repairing the TV does not reproduce such behavior, as said private trees are not called by any interaction in the final product. It is noteworthy, still, that these animations are used in the Steering Committee prototype when a Sim repairs the expensive flat screen television.

All cars contain animation strings, which correspond to working animations in the game's data, for opening the doors and sitting down inside both a seat on the left and right. The cars, however, have no door graphics which can be opened or interior graphics which a 3D animation proper door could sit in top of. These animations are referenced in carname::send person to work but the tree actually skips over the primitives which run them in the final game.

Toaster Oven Child Animations#

It seems like child Sims were designed to be able to prepare meals using the toaster oven object. "c2o-toasteroven-get-food" references animation event ids (xevts) for opening the toaster oven door that do not match those expected by the object's script, ultimately explaining why the toaster oven does not open correctly if a player commands a child to use it via modding. Child Sims can not prepare meals at all in the final product.
