Sound Test#

An overflow of audio

Hold Select + Start + B while on the title screen. A bug occurs where the save-counter value from the loading screen is carried over if you happen to go there first, possibly leading to overflow and illegal values for the Sound Effect option.

Unused Characters#

Four unused entries appear in the character data (which includes the enemies, the guest characters, and the initial stats for selectable party members). The unused entries have blank names, stats following the pattern of the group before them (the one after the wizards has high Agl and Mana, the one after the robots has 0 Mana, etc.), and only one ability, which is usually the same as the first ability of the enemy after them.

They all have the Human M overworld sprite and the Pebble enemy sprite in battles, except for the second entry, which has the Robot sprite in battles.

They can be fought in random battles by using GameShark code 01??E1CF, where "??" is the appropriate character ID.

They can be added as party members by the following procedure: Enable GameShark code 01XXYYC7, where "XX" is the character ID and "YY" is 3D, 3E, 3F, 40, 41, 42, 43, or 44. Start a new game. When the character select menu appears, the character specified by "XX" will appear in the menu slot specified by "YY" (3D changes the first slot, 3E the second, etc.). After selecting your party, disable the code.

In the Japanese version, you have to catch criminals selling illegal opium in Edo. Due to Nintendo of America's content policy at the time, the US version changed the mentions of opium to...bananas.
