Introduction Palace#

There are many oddities with the introductory Palace, which suggest either that all of the Palaces had their internal names switch around at some point, or that this field was being used as a test bed.

Medieval Torch#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m050_002.GMD, dated at 2015-04-28 12:39:54.

Appears to be the base for a wall-mounted torch. The texture it uses (f050_parts03.dds) has the field code 050, unlike most of the assets in the opening Palace, which are labeled x57 (Sae's Palace Field code). M050_002_gmd_wall_torch.png

Early Futaba's Palace Door#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m050_003.GMD

Very early version of a door meant for Futaba's palace. Oddly, this door is sorted with Sae's palace (prologue version), due to its file name, m050_003. It has 3 animations: one staying closed, one opening, and one staying open. The door looks completely dark due to having a completely black night map. An image is provided with the night map removed to show what the door looks like more clearly.

Without Night Map

Final

Collapsing Floor#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m050_020.GMD, dated 2015-04-28 12:40:00.

This model has a pitch black night map that hides the surface texture (omitted for visibility), and an animation where it collapses into rubble. Labelled x50 instead of x57.

Anim02

Early Futaba's Palace Mural#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m050_020.GMD and dated 2015-04-28 12:40:00.

Resembles the final version, but the textures appear tinted blue here. Has an animation where it crumples into rubble. References x50 instead of x57 or x55 (Futaba's Palace Field code).

Early Futaba's Palace Wall Section#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m050_040.GMD, dated 2015-08-26 16:02:30.

A section of Futaba's Palace that has partially collapsed. Has one animation where the top and bottom parts swap places. Refernces x50 instead of x57 or x55. P5ProtoDec2015-FutabaEarlyWallSection.png

Sliding Doors#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m050_061.GMD, dated 2015-12-03 11:36:23.

A crude looking model of a set of sliding doors with barred windows. Labeled x50 instead of x57.

Somewhat resembles the assets from the light-puzzle in Futaba's Palace. Labeled x50 instead of x57 or x55. P5ProtoDec2015-x50MirrorWithoutHandle.png

Large Veiny Wall#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m150_020.GMD, dated 2015-04-28 12:38:12.

A mass of dark webbing. Has one animation of the mass throbbing like the veins in Mementos. The textures for this object reference Field codes x90 and x91 (the codes for Mementos) instead of x57.

Anim00

Anim01

Shadowed "Exit"#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m150_021.GMD, dated 2015-04-28 12:38:36.

A shadow-box cut into an irregular shape. Judging by the texture names, this is an exit; it may match the exit to Futaba's Palace. P5ProtoDec-x50-ShadowyExit.png

Medium Veiny Wall#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m150_043.GMD, dated 2015-04-28 12:32:32.

Anim00

Anim01

Beam of Light#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m150_076.GMD, dated 2015-04-28 12:36:17.

A ray of light. There are about twenty duplicates of this model, which, combined with the early mirror objects, indicates that this may be part of a scrapped laser puzzle. P5Dec2015-x50-BeamOfLight.png

Kamoshida's Palace#

Swinging Palette of Boxes#

P5ProtoDec2015-x51-RopeAndBoxes.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m051_012.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:23:52.

P5ProtoDec2015-x52-BlueGate.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m052_053.gmd, dated 2015-12-03 11:36:23.

A fairly complete-looking model of a gate, but it's glowing blue for some reason. Perhaps as part of an early test-case for Third Eye.

Descending Spikes#

P5ProtoDec2015-x52-SpikeTrap.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m052_054.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:24:38.

A low-poly model of a ceiling covered in spikes, fit with several animations where it descends downwards menacingly.

Patch of Water#

P5ProtoDec-x52-WaterPart.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m052_080.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:24:33.

A normal enough looking mock-up for the rivers in Kamoshida's dungeon, but the shadow model on top of it has left it pretty awkward looking.

Descending Wall#

P5ProtoDec-x52-LoweringWall.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m152_050.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:39:27.

Another Old Version of the False Painting#

Front

Back

Found at model/field_tex/object/m151_010.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:24:35.

Another version of the false painting in the foyer of Kamoshida's Palace. This time, it's actually using the final painting, but the frame is way too small for the whole thing.

P5ProtoDec2015-x51-VeryEarlyDoor.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m151_003.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:24:43.

A very simple texture-less door, painted a lovely eye-ball-scorching gold. This appears to be one of the several "very early doors" that occur throughout the prototype, likely from when the game was still being planned out.

Madarame's Palace#

Early Painting with Paint Spill#

P5Dec2015-m053_060.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m053_060.gmd, dated 2015-10-30 11:26:49.

A painting of a black-and-white checkered hallway – potentially an in-game screenshot from Madarame's Palace to be used as a placeholder. There are golden paint spills in front of and to the side of the painting.

Early Narrow Painting#

P5ProtoDec2015-m052_061.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m053_061.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:38:47.

This appears to use the same texture as the other painting, but either it's been cut off, or the screenshot used for this painting was of a different location.

Early Block-Part from Palace Interior#

P5ProtoDec2015-m053_062.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m053_062.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:39:10.

Another Early Block-Part from Palace Interior#

P5ProtoDec2105-m053_063.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m053_063.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:39:10.

Found at model/field_tex/object/m053_140.gmd, dated 2015-09-22 14:57:49.

Has an animation where it extends and contracts; likely a test to see what the animations would look like before having to texture such an awkward object.

White Cube#

P5ProtoDec2015-m153_001-CUBE.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m153_001.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:24:54.

A very simple white cube. Maybe Madarame was going to be a very different kind of artist at some point... or maybe this is just for checking collisions.

Very Early Blue Door#

P5ProtoDec2015-m153_020-blue-door.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m153_020.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:32:39.

Found at model/field_tex/object/m153_007.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:34:14.

This object looks similar to the hit box of the laser room in Madarame's Palace, but it's odd for a floor-plan object to be turning up with the other objects. It'll be far from the last, though.

Room with Moving Paintings#

P5ProtoDec2015-m153_030-earlt-painting-room.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m153_030.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:33:03.

P5ProtoDec2015-mdrm-corridor-and-boc.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m153_110.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:40:01.

Early Wooden Shelf#

P5ProtoDec2015-knsr-wooden-shelf.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m154_015.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:36:08.

Early Box#

P5ProtoDec2015-ftb-early-pyramid-box.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m155_149.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:32:45.

Found at model/field_tex/object/m055_205.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:24:33.

Likely a mock-up of one of Futaba's doors, which do have a fairly complex design.

Event Marker#

P5ProtoDec2015-ftb-event-marker.png P5Protoec2015-ftb-event-marker-companion.png Found at model/field_tex/object/m155_101.gmd, dated 2015-11-30 16:38:22.

Very Early Blue Door#

P5ProtoDec2015-okmr-early-blue-door.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m156_002.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:36:04.

Found at model/field_tex/object/m156_003.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:36:45.

And another...

Utah Teapot Airlock#

P5ProtoDec2015-okmr-airlock-part-2.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m156_041.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:37:53.

Has an animation where the teapots are ejected; likely another mock-up for part of the airlock puzzle. This may count as teapot abuse...

Another Outline of Airlock Puzzle#

P5ProtoDec2015-okmr-airlock-part-3.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m156_042.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:38:29.

Judging by the frequency of these unused airlock mock-ups, it's likely that the airlock puzzle was one of the later parts of the game to be finalized.

Another Another Outline of the Airlock Puzzle#

P5ProtoDec2015-okmr-airlock-part-4.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m156_044.gmd, dated 2015-11-12 19:42:54.

Airlock Corridor Without Windows#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m156_061.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:24:40.

Another airlock tube, but this one lacks the view of the other. P5ProtoDec2015-okmr-windowless-airlock.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m156_091.gmd, dated 2015-08-11 17:42:47.

An exceptionally janky-looking model of what is apparently an elevator, judging by the animation where the purple cylinder rises upwards.

Hallway Section)#

P5ProtoDec2015-okmr-tunnel-piece.png

Found at model/field_tex/object/m156_043.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:38:47.

Shido's Palace#

Very Early Castle Wall#

P5ProtoDec2015-castle-wall.png

Found in model/field_tex/object/m159_040.gmd, dated 2015-10-01 11:56:40.

A castle wall, colored using vertex painting instead of textures. This seems quite out of place for Shido's Palace, but it matches with some of the strange unused field geometry.

Field x40 Castle Door#

P5ProtoDec-x40-CatsleDoor.png

Found in model/field_tex/object/m159_001.gmd, dated 2015-12-03 11:36:23.

A duplicate (several, actually) of the castle door associated with the unused Field x40. It's placement here is peculiar, but it does seem like there's a trend with these scrapped objects from Shido's Palace.

Early Spears / Spikes#

P5ProtoDec2015-spears.png

Found in model/field_tex/object/m159_035.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:39:30.

Has an animation of the spears lowering and staying lowered.

Three Bronze Men#

P5ProtoDec2015-shido-bronze-statues.png

Found in model/field_tex/object/m059_021.gmd, dated 2015-11-12 19:42:54.

Three bronze statues, who are wearing sashes with the LCP logo instead of the United Future logo. Judging by the names of the textures and the appearances of the statues, these are based on real people: Itō Hirobumi, the first prime minister of Japan; Itagaki Taisuke, a samurai who founded Japan's first political party; and Ōkuma Shigenobu, a former prime minister and key figure in the modernization of Japanese politics and Japan itself.

Golden Lion Statue#

P5ProtoDec2015-shido-golden-lion-statue.png

Found in model/field_tex/object/m059_061.gmd, dated 2015-11-02 13:49:55.

A great big golden lion.

Golden Switch#

P5ProtoDec2015-shido-gold-switch.png

Found in model/field_tex/object/m059_151.gmd, dated 2015-11-12 19:42:54.

A great big golden switch. Probably for the letters of recommendation.

Lion Headed Doors#

P5ProtoDec2015-shido-dinigidoor.png

Found in model/field_tex/object/m159_008.gmd, dated 2015-05-28 11:23:53.

This model uses the LCP logo instead of the United Future logo, and the text on the Jumbotron appears to be slightly different.

Letter of Recommendation#

P5ProtoDec2015-shido-recommendation-letter.png

Found in model/field_tex/object/m059_081.gmd, dated 2015-04-28 12:38:47.

This model uses the LCP logo instead of the United Future logo.

Unused Castle (?) Palace#

Theses objects and their associated textures appear to be the only assets that reference a field with the x40 code; given that these assets use only the placeholder UV checker texture or real-life photographs, and that they also appear in Okumura and Shido's Palaces for some reason, these may be remnants of an old prototype Palace, a placeholder Palace, or a Palace that was scrapped later in development.

Security Camera (m040_003.gmd)#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m040_003.GMD, dated 2015-05-28 11:23:51.

A security camera. One of the textures it uses (f040_misc03.dds) appears to be comprised of photos of various real-life mechanical parts. P5ProtoDec2015-x40-SecurityCamera.png

Duplicate / Early Kamoshida's Palace Door (m040_006.gmd)#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m040_006.GMD, dated 2015-05-28 11:24:36.

Although internally this model uses textures with the same name as the ones for the other doors from Kamoshida's Palace, the specific textures that correspond to this object appear to be the pink-and-green UV texture map. P5ProtoDec2025-x40-EarlyKMSDDoor.png

Early Concept "Catsle" Door (m040_010.gmd)#

Found at model/field_tex/object/m040_010.GMD, dated 2015-04-28 12:39:16.

An early Palace door, with several animations of it being opened and being held open. Judging by the name of one of this objects textures (f040_catsle_04.dds), Field x40 was like a castle-themed Palace. Similar to the security camera, the textures for this object appear to be a collage of photos from real castles and churches. Of note is that this object is also referenced by but unused in Okumura and Shido's Palaces. P5ProtoDec-x40-CatsleDoor.png
