Character Portraits#
Joker#
All of Joker's portraits for selecting dialogue were redrawn for the final game. It's clear he's wearing a shirt in a few early ones, a detail that was removed in their final versions.

Ryuji Sakamato#
All of Ryuji's portraits differ from the final. His hair is more saturated and virtually every aspect of his face has been drawn differently, including his eyes, ears, mouth and hair. The shading is also a little different. His body appears to be the same as the final portraits.

Masayoshi Shido#
Shido has a portrait that covers most of his face in shadow in place of his first drunk portrait. Joker can't remember what Shido's face looks like for most of the game, which is reflected in this build through the use of this portrait in the flashbacks. He's missing the rest of his drunk portraits. 
Lavenza#
Lavenza's outfit is different from the final's. Only her neutral portrait is done, and the eyes and mouth aren't yet animated. She's closer to the left of the image than in the final.

The rest of her portraits use this placeholder silhouette of Caroline. It's very reminiscent of a similar placeholder portrait in Persona 3. 
Palace Speech Portraits#
Ryuji Sakamato#
Just like the portrait shown earlier, Ryuji's head is different in the speech graphics that appear during the Kamoshida's Palace escape sequence, though his hair seems less saturated.
Futaba Sakura#
Just like the portrait shown earlier, the glow in Futaba's navigation portrait is more intense and green instead of blue.
Palace Rulers#
The final game has unused Palace speech portraits for the Palace Rulers. They're here as well, and the mechanic is fully functional in this build. But there are some that are differences. However, the portraits of the unrevealed Palace Rulers are completely absent in this build.
Shadow Futaba/Mementos Depths#
In the final game the portraits for Futaba and the Mementos Depths are empty. However, they use this odd blurred portrait of Futaba in this build .
Shadow Sae#
The portraits for Sae match her design in this build.
Shadow Shido#
Uses his boss form rather than his normal shadow form.
Very Early Palace Speech Portraits#
Found in data.cpk/font/assist/ is a folder that's not present in the final game called "chara". It contains what seems to be very early (and very low quality) palace speech portraits for the main characters, matching the early 2015 portrait style. They're all stored inside .spd files instead of .bin files. There are 4 files each per character, likely for their different outfits, but most of the files are duplicates of each other.
Just about every portrait was redrawn and used as a cut-in in the final game. It's possible that these portraits were originally normal portraits for the characters, and the cut-ins were larger versions of the normal portraits like in previous Persona games.
Joker#
Despite being Joker's file, there are placeholder portraits for the first 6 party members in it, all with the kanji for "temporary" on them. The rest of Joker's files only contain his portrait, which looks like one of his early 2015 ones but with a surprised expression. Ryuji's portrait can also been seen in several early graphics.
Ryuji Sakamato#
This portrait can also be found in the final game's files, though in much higher quality and uncropped.

Morgana#
Unlike all other characters, Morgana has multiple portraits in his file showing a few animations, likely due to him being the most developed navigator when these portraits were being used.
