Asphalt Nitro 2

To do:
Document a hidden cheat menu found on discovered developer builds

Asphalt Nitro 2 is a budget-friendly version of Asphalt Legends & the successor to the original Asphalt Nitro. It was softlaunched in December 2020 for Nigeria & Singapore, then a year later for select countries. The open-beta testing of the game was finally opened on Halloween of 2023 across almost all countries (except for a few) & is still open. Compared to its predecessor, Asphalt Nitro 2's overall app size is slightly larger, with all its assets being compressed to 50 MB. Currently, the game is still in beta since its initial release, & is often speculated by fans to be in "development hell" due to the long wait.

Unused Text#

In any of the game's .bar files inside the texts folder, a handful of unused content can be found. Currently, with the state of the game, it is unknown whether this content is planned for a future update or was scrapped altogether.

Unused Anti-Cheat Warning#

In the game's .bar files inside the "en.texts" folder, an anti-cheat warning was found sprawled across a few strings of text that was supposed to display when a user is banned from the game for hacking or otherwise progressing through the game through unauthorized methods:

YOU ARE BANNED!

Some suspicious activity has been detected, indicating that your in-game progress was reached using abnormal game actions. Therefore you have been banned!

Compared to earlier entries, including its predecessor, this anti-cheat warning is far shorter, among the shortest anti-cheat warnings in the Asphalt franchise. There are also no written account penalties, such as a permanent/7-day ban or a progress reset penalty. thumb|left|The unused anti-cheat warning, as seen in Asphalt Nitro 2's .bar files

Unused Brands#

In the same text files, the following car brands appear as mentions that also went unused in the final Beta release:

  • Pagani
  • DS Automobiles
  • Lotus

Unused Cars#

Yet again in the same text files, the following unused cars appear only as mentions:

  • Pagani Huayra BC
  • DS E-TENSE
  • Lotus Evora Sport 410
  • Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
  • Lamborghini Centenario
  • Aston Martin Vulcan

Unused Track#

For a 3rd time in the same text files, a track titled only as "USA" is left out the final release, mentioned only as text. It appears it would have had 10 variations.

Unused Features#

For the 4th time in the same text files, at least 5 features are left as mere mentions in the text strings:

  • Time Limited Events
  • Fuel
  • Tokens (seen in early developer builds with a hidden cheat menu; also has data)
  • Blueprints
  • VIP

Unused Game Mode#

Hunted, a game mode previously used in Asphalt Legends, was possibly meant to appear in Asphalt Nitro 2 as well, but it appears to have been scrapped as no data for it can be found & it is left as only a mention in the text strings.
