Asphalt 5 is the fifth major title in the Asphalt series released in 2009. While it is often known for its subpar performance & controls, it is also known for the high optimization & quality for its price tag of $5 USD at the time.
Cancelled/Lost Ports#
An unused PSP Mini S icon for the game was discovered all the way back in 2010 by IGN, a major game journalist network. Official blog posts from Gameloft themselves also hinted towards a Java version being initially planned as well. Both ports seem to have been cancelled as there is no existing content connected to either platform. As a result, these once-planned releases of the game are considered to be lost media.
Exclusive Cars#
Several cars are only available if you own specific brand devices. For example, if you own a Samsung device, you will get the Samsung WCG Car automatically.
Samsung WCG Car#
Unlocked by reaching Level 101 in other versions, but is playable during its event. It's actually impossible to reach level 101, requiring a glitch to play it in other tracks and to customize it. This car previously appeared in Asphalt 4: Elite Racing, & would later go on to make an appearance in Asphalt 6: Adrenaline as well.
Nokia Car#
Available in the NFC version for Symbian only, playable only in multiplayer mode.
Sony Ericsson#
Available in the Sony Ericsson Pro version.
Version Differences#
In the iOS version, there are a few differences:
- There's a jukebox, where you can change music during a race or play your own audio.
- The music is higher pitched and sped up due to an audio playback error.
- The textures are higher quality.
Unused Vehicles#
There are a handful of unused vehicles inside package_general.bar in the Windows Phone version. All of them share the same stats (possibly from the Nissan 370Z) and appear orange by default (except for the Aston Martins, which appears cyan instead) and have a placeholder level requirement of 101 with incorrect prices. The stats, level requirements and prices have been fixed in the video. In the other versions, only the vehicle slot parameters exist for them.
- Abarth 500 (incorrectly named as a Fiat)
- Ariel Atom 3
- Aston Martin DBS
- Aston Martin One-77
- Bentley Continental Supersports
- KTM X-Bow
- Lotus Exige S
- Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG
- Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss
- Pagani Zonda Cinque (incorrectly says Zonda F on the rear)
- Ducati Hypermotard (not shown in video)
Lost Debug Menu#
Watch on YouTubeIn the video below, a hidden debug menu was discovered and showcased online by an unidentified iOS player known online as "Burn1ngSn0wMan" (username not confirmed). While one report through a YouTube comment in 2010 stated that the debug menu was somehow opened by accident in the tuning menu, the exact method in which this debug menu can be accessed is unknown. The hidden debug menu lists several ways to cheat progress without significant effort, the ones listed including the following:
- Unlock All: Purpose unknown, but likely unlocks all available vehicles.
- Level: Sets the player's experience menu to a set value, the maximum reported level being 50.
- Money: Sets the player's in-game money to a set value, with the reported maximum being $4,290,749 in-game Dollars.
As of 2026, the specific build or version where this debug menu was found is currently unidentified, making this version (alongside the actual debug menu) also lost media.
