Asphalt 7: Heat is the seventh major title in the Asphalt series, known for its higher graphics and updated system, and among the last premium titles in the series. The game was delisted in 2017, and the last remaining storefront for it (Blackberry) was shut down in 2022. Its development overlapped that of Asphalt 6.

Sub-Pages#

Scrapped Tracks#

In the game's .bar text files, four tracks which would have been based on their Asphalt: Injection counterparts were scrapped from the game during development, only existing as text:

  • Cape Town
  • Monte Carlo
  • Detroit
  • Hong Kong

Scrapped Game Modes#

As seen in the videos below, some dev builds (containing a debug feature) were discovered, revealing some cut game modes (2 of which were hidden under placeholder labels such as "No.") were discovered: A7BustedSystemLost.png

  • Cop Chase: Hidden under the placeholder label "No.", this game mode would have been directly carried over from Injection, where the player would have to evade cops. However, likely because Gameloft left the mode completely unfinished, loading into the mode in the dev builds reveals that the cops do not have functional sirens, no obstacles (i.e. other cop cars as roadblocks) spawn in the track, no cops spawn any further down the track in front of the player and the cops function as regular racers instead of targeting the player. Tickets also do not appear in the in-game HUD and the player cannot be penalized by getting close to cops. However, only the "Busted!" failure mechanic remains active; if the player wrecks their vehicle five times, they are immediately disqualified from the event. The post-race environment is different too, as instead of using the default outro, the post-race environment simply locks the camera on the spot & displays the results immediately after the final wreck, with the player's wrecked vehicle flailing around & eventually remaining stationary (either far onscreen or entirely offscreen) while the cop cars drive endlessly around the track.
  • Duel: Like Cop Chase, the Duel race mode is also hidden under the placeholder label "No." Also a would-be carryover from previous games in the Asphalt series, Duel would have been a 1v1 competition against another car. It is just about finished, but the pink flags that act like checkpoints with splits no longer appear anymore and are non-functional.
  • Checklist: The Checklist game mode would have been a brand new race mode introduced in the series if used. The Checklist race mode would have divided a track into 5 sequential "zones," with each zone requiring the player to complete a distinct mini-challenge, such as hitting a specific top speed, maintaining a targeted drift length, dodging obstacles, or collecting as much miniature cash items (which also went unused entirely) as they can. This game mode is also the only unused mode that was officially acknowledged & confirmed to be once planned by Gameloft themselves,12 as well as the most finished (even being the only one properly named instead of using "No." as a placeholder), though some things, including the objectives system, are not implemented whenever the player loads into it within the dev builds since it was probably meant for multiplayer.

All 3 unused race modes also have their data stored within the game files. Probably due to bugs resulting from each game mode not being fully complete, the system will still render a race in each game mode as a win regardless if the player actually won or lost by game standards.

Available showcases of what these game modes look like in-game are provided in the videos below:

Hidden "No." Mode#

In the first video above, a fourth unused "race mode" was also hidden in the debug menu (only accessible in the dev builds) that was also named as the placeholder title "No." and has data stored in the game files. Also jokingly dubbed as "Super Saiyan Mode" or otherwise nicknamed as "Sandbox" or "Free Roam," this game mode is not named (in contrast with the other cut race modes), and it is unknown for what purpose this race mode existed. However, this mode contains no speed cap (allowing racers to fly around the track at lightning speeds), invincibility, and lap times set to "infinite" rather than a fixed system, as well as the option to end a race at any time. That said, it seems evident that this mode was likely a physics playground or other test feature that allowed the developers to test car handling, drift mechanics, and physics without the constraints or time limits of standard objective modes. In either case, it appears that the developers may have forgotten to completely delete this feature after the game's release.

Revisional Differences#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:
1. Double check if the exclusive cars left out of the Windows release are not available across any & all versions of the Windows release
2. Check if Facebook integration was featured on any release outside iOS

Some versions of the game have missing or altered content.

iOS#

While most content in the iOS release is the same as other releases, there are 2 notable changes:

  • Heavy backend compatibility with Facebook (likely not utilized with any other version of the game) was integrated.
  • The engine noise for certain cars (i.e. Ford Shelby GT500 Eleanor & Aston Martin V8 Vantage S) is higher pitched likely due to an audio playback error.

Windows#

The UWP version has the highest quality textures alongside iOS and the best resolutions. It featured heavy backend compatibility with Xbox Live, however it features a few differences:

  • The co-driver now says a line whenever your vehicle gets wrecked, unlike the others.
  • The combo meter borders are glitched.
  • The adrenaline boost sound has reverb but only the intro sound (it also loops in this state).
  • Drifting is a bit easier to straighten.
  • Cars now have properly audible gear shifting and whine sounds.

Likely due to the Windows version of the game being older than the others and not updated, the following cars are unavailable in the Windows release. Many of them are special event exclusives:

  • Hyundai Veloster Turbo
  • Peugeot RCZ-R
  • Mercedes-Benz C 350 BlueEFFICIENCY Coupe
  • BMW Z4 sDrive35is
  • Nissan Juke NISMO
  • Nissan 370Z NISMO
  • Plymouth Prowler
  • Hyundai Genesis Coupe
  • Nissan Juke R
  • Lotus Exige S Coupe
  • Lotus Evora S
  • Shelby Cobra 427 S/C
  • Jaguar XKR-S Convertible
  • Alpine A110-50
  • Mazda Furai
  • Ferrari 575M Maranello
  • McLaren F1
  • Marussia B2
  • Ferrari F12Berlinetta
  • Koenigsegg Agera R
  • SSC Tuatara

Unused Models#

To do:
Add screenshots.

In data/Objects, several unused models can be found in the respective folder.

outro.bdae/outronowin.bdae#

The post-race environment from the previous titles. In this game, it's just the car driving endlessly on the track.

cape_planebanner.bdae#

The airplane from the previously mentioned Cape Town track.

Monte Carlo leftovers#

mon_ferriswheel.bdae, mon_fountain.bdae and mon_speedboat.bdae can be found respectively, these being the dynamic props of the track.

Unused Song#

To do:
Replace link with audio rip

In the game's files, an unused track named m_garage.mpc can be found. It was supposed to be used in the explorable garage area just like Asphalt 6 and Injection have, but it was scrapped as the map files itself cannot be found nor the textures. Watch on YouTube

Scrapped Honda Brand#

At some point in time, an unused graphic for Honda among the graphics (seen in the bottom right of the image below) was revealed by a dataminer. This appears to serve as evidence that Gameloft once planned to add Honda cars to the game, but was not approved by Honda, likely due to the latter historically refusing to license any media that featured anything police-related (with later games such as Asphalt Legends being exceptions). Unused/Scrapped Cars#

Coinciding with the unused Honda logo, two Honda cars were also discovered as text in the files:

  • Honda CR-Z
  • Honda NSX

Additionally, the following vehicles also appear only as text mentions in the files:

  • BMW Vision ConnectedDrive (previous cut appearance, it's icon can be found in one of the UI atlas files)
  • Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary
  • Chevrolet Camaro SS (likely replaced with the GS)
  • Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
  • Jaguar XJ220
  • Jaguar XKR (replaced with the XKR-S)
  • Maserati GranCabrio MC (likely an update car)
  • McLaren P1 (likely an update car)
  • Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG (likely replaced with the C 350 BlueEFFICIENCY/Classe C Coupe)
  • Noble M600 (likely an update car)
  • Spada Codatronca Monza
  • Zenvo ST1
  • Ferrari 599 GTO (leftover from Injection)

Vehicle Data Errors#

Charger R/T Naming Error & Replacement#

During development, the Dodge Charger R/T (LD), which initially appeared in Injection, was scrapped in the final release, having been replaced with the higher-performance SRT8 (LD) trim instead. This was due to the actual model mistakenly being named as "Dodge Charger SRT8" instead of the intended "R/T," resulting in Gameloft replacing the model altogether with the matching car, leading to the Charger SRT8 being fully rendered in-game instead. Despite this, the Charger R/T is still mentioned in the actual game, though only in the Furious Fuel sponsor which stops the timer in certain events (i.e. Paint Job/Old School Arcade) once Adrenaline is used.

Broken 575M Maranello Event#

Due to early overhauls of the game's Gameloft Live! service implementation, the Ferrari 575M Maranello, when selected, claims to require completing a "Special Event" to unlock. However, likely due to either miscommunications or complications involving the GLive! servers, the actual game script containing this specific limited-time event structure is completely nonexistent (or, at the very least, inaccessible) in the files of the game. Because of this, the 575M Maranello is rendered entirely unobtainable without hacking or other workarounds.
