Story#

Shrine#

Slade – an anthropomorphic rat thief – and two hired goons enter an old shrine. They go over to the lower-right hallway and find nothing.

April Script

Oops a dead end!

Final Script

Oops, a dead end!

Then, Slade goes over to the lower-left hallway.

April Script

Yes! I found some hidden
stairs!

Final Script

Hey! I found some hidden
stairs!

Slade directs the goons over to the other corner.

April Script

Yes sir!

Final Script

Alright!

Slade enters the hidden Room of the Ancient Shrine.

April Script

I wonder if they're here?!

Final Script

I wonder if they're here?

He looks in a nearby treasure chest.

April Script

He found Power Wine.

Final Script

He found Power Water.

Translation Notes
This is the Japanese name of the item. The actual item is called Power Water in both drafts.
This is only different because the script isn't using a proper pointer to the item's name.

April Script

No, they aren't here!

Final Script

No, I don't want this!

April Script

discarded the
Power Wine.

Final Script

discarded the
Power Water.

April Script

Where on earth are those
jewels?

Final Script

Where on Earth are those
jewels?

Slade looks to the center of the room, where two objects shine through the darkness.

April Script

Something is shining overthere...!

Final Script

Something is shining over
there...!

Granseal Castle#

The scene switches to Granseal Castle's throne room at night. There's a thunderstorm outside.

April Script

It's unusual for time of
season.

Final Script

It's unusual for this time
of year.

A lone soldier walks into the king's chamber.

April Script

It's time to go to the
Ancient Tower?

Final Script

Is it time to go to the
Ancient Tower?

April Script

Yes, sir.

Final Script

Yes, sire.

The soldier walks off. Suddenly, the king feels a gust of wind.

April Script

Make sure all the doors
windows are shut!

Final Script

Make sure all the doors and
windows are shut!

The candles are quickly blown out.

Shrine (again)#

Cut back to Slade and co. working on trying to pull the jewels out of the chamber. Slade tries last...

April Script

Well....that didn't work.

Final Script

Well, that didn't work.

Slade decides to pull out both of the jewels at the same time...which works, though Slade gets thrown across the room.

April Script

Oh, they're here!
I did get the legendary
jewels! Bravo!

Final Script

Oh, I got them!
I have the legendary
jewels! Bravo!

The shrine starts shaking violently.

April Script

We must escape from the
tower! Follow me!

Final Script

We must escape from the
shrine! Follow me!

While Slade and his cronies escape...

Granseal Castle (again)#

...King Granseal and the minister are in the dark throne room.

April Script

Somebody bring a light to the
King's room!

Final Script

Somebody bring a light to the
King's Chamber!

A blinding lightning strike lights the room back up. The minister looks out the window at the Ancient Tower...

April Script

It's collapsing...
Maybe it struck by lightning?

Final Script

It's collapsing!
Maybe it was struck by
lightning?

April Script

No, not lightning?

Final Script

No, not lightning...

King Granseal believes that the tower is disaster-proof. The scouting soldier comes back and says the tower doors have opened! The minister decides to go with the scout.

April Script

Show me to the sealed door.

Final Script

Take me to the sealed door.

April Script

Sire, I'm going to confirm
what happened!

Final Script

Sire, I'm going to go and
see what happened!

The King contemplates his situation while the minister is away.

April Script

Strange, strange in deed!

Final Script

Strange, strange indeed!

More lightning strikes. King Granseal sees a flash of a shadowy figure in the chamber. Then the figure appears again.

April Script

That's not my fancy!
Somebody's in this room!

Final Script

It's not my imagination!
Somebody's in this room!

The figure, revealed as a green demon, materializes in front of the king and begins to cast a spell.

April Script

Somebody...help!

Final Script

Somebody...HELP!

The King is knocked out by the spell. End of game. I mean, end of scene.

Witch's Forest#

'''''Fade to an enclosure in a dark forest. The only figure around is a purple-cloaked witch stirring something in a giant cauldron.

April Script

Hee, hee, hee...
Finally you're here!
Ah, you look so confused.
You don't know why you're
here.
Yes, yes...I used a charm
on you.
Ha, ha, where are you
going? You can't escape
from this mystery forest
unless you grant me my
request.

Final Script

Hee, hee, hee...
You're finally here!
Ah, you look so confused.
You don't know why you're
here?
Yes, yes...I used a spell
on you.
Ha, ha. Where are you
going? You can't escape
from this mystery forest
unless you help me.

April Script

Which request is that?

Final Script

Whatcha gonna do?

This is the save/load menu. Umm, I mean it's the enchanted and ancient temporal point between parallel worlds...menu.

CHOOSING A NAME:

April Script

[Hero]...
nice name, hah?
I'll let you decide the
difficulty level at this
time.

June Script

[Hero]...
Nice name, hah?
I'll let you decide the
difficulty level at this time.

Final Script

[Hero]...
Nice name, huh?
I'll let you decide the
difficulty level at this time.

There are four options: Normal, Hard, Super, and "Ouch!" Super is actually the most difficult mode.Path. Most difficultpath.

CHOOSING "NORMAL":

April Script

What? There is no
difference!

Final Script

Takin' it easy, eh?

CHOOSING "SUPER":

April Script

You're a brave man!

Final Script

You're a brave person!

CHOOSING "OUCH!":

April Script

What? Do you want to die?

Final Script

What? Do you wanna die?!

Now it's off to help the witch...in the most roundabout way possible.
