This page details one or more prototype versions of Activity Log.

On April 4, 2026, the Proto Challenge team recovered and published many 3DS system apps prototypes from 2010.

In this release, 2 prototypes of the Activity Log were found. The only known difference between the two is the fact that the build labeled "Build 1" briefly shows a dummy software while opening the software library.

Differences#

To do:
Find a way to add data to the save to show stats in the graph and softwares in the software library.

Global#

To do:
Rip the music.

  • The BGM playing is completely different.
  • Some SFX are different.

Prototype

Final

  • The pens are darker.
  • The Mii card only shows the Mii's head on a red background. It actually uses your Mii!
  • The text below the current date just says "your" instead of the Mii's name.
  • The steps and 3DS icons aren't highlighted (which kind of look better).

Daily Records#

Prototype

Final

  • We can see the different Mii card again.
  • The text for future dates don't use a different color.
  • The text "There are no record yet" is missing in the graph if there's no data.

Prototype

Final

  • The prototype shows everything even if there's no data.

Software Library#

Library#

Prototype

Final

  • There are no visible difference, the buttons are grayed out on the prototype because there is no data.

Prototype (Build 1)

Final

  • The Playtime counter text was originally present tense "1回に遊ぶ時間" (session of playing time) in the prototype. The final build refers to playtime in the past tense "1回に遊んだ時間" (session of played time) instead.
  • When entering the software library on the prototype labeled "build 1", it briefly shows dummy stats of a dummy software. This is the only known difference between the 2 prototypes.
  • The only difference between the prototype and the final build is a slight text change.

The Book#

Prototype

Final

  • The different Mii card can be seen once again.
  • The book is slightly moved to the right, right to the screen border.

Prototype

Final

  • The book is also slightly moved to the right.
  • The text is different and says "Total: 128 items" and "Sakaguchi Tsubasa", who is credited as designer for the Nintendo 3DS system software.

Bugs#

Daily Records#

Before resizing

After resizing

  • On the prototype, the graph doesn't display the colors properly before resizing it. It's also slightly moved to the left.

Software Library#

  • The navigation is pretty bugged while messing around with the dpad and L/R buttons.

Broken Book

  • You can softlock the app by closing the software library and move the cursor right after, it will open the book again (with the proper animation), in a broken state, without being able to leave.

Tutorial#

There is an asset named P_Tutorial_LZ.bin, which is an unused tutorial using screenshots of a older design.

On the graph: "number of steps" Bottom right:

  • Steps taken on this day: 3,456
  • Steps taken so far: 128,985,442
  • Top walker: Sakaguchi Tsubasa

Same as above

March 31, 2010 Events

  • Number of steps taken while carrying around [the 3DS]
  • Play time
  • Super Mario
  • Super Metroid 3DS
  • The Legend of Zelda

Tsubasa Sakaguchi

This is for the log part, the tutorial has an animation of the images changing like a slideshow. It looks completely different from the final build, there's the full Mii displayed, the graphs are displayed on multiple sheets, and there's some text on the bottom right. The "top walker" part implies that multiple users could use the 3DS using their Mii?

One thing of note is that the body model for the Mii is from Skateboard Arena and Segway Circuit in Wii Fit Plus. And as the "top walker" name suggests, the Mii face itself is that of Tsubasa Sakaguchi, who is credited as a character designer for Wii Fit Plus, and designer for the Nintendo 3DS system software.

  • Recently played: 2001/01/01
  • Favorite level: ★

Ranking by number of times played Buttons: Back, Graph

This is for the software library part, the design here is pretty close to final. Here's the differences:

  • Game related additional info: "Favorite Level"
  • On the top screen, the software sheet is a bit smaller
  • The highlight uses a different color (yellow on final)

Tōkaidōchū Hizakurige and Nansō Satomi Hakkenden are two famous Japanese literary works, but they're most likely used here to test displaying a long string of Japanese kanji.

UlcdTest#

To do:
There's more than that, try to open the layout and display it correctly (switch toolbox shows it completely wrong)
