SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide is the sequel to SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. Players swap between controlling SpongeBob and Patrick, who try to solve a conflict between King Neptune and the Flying Dutchman.

While this was the first SpongeBob game to target ninth-generation consoles (as well as being the first SpongeBob game to release for the Nintendo Switch 2), a port for the Nintendo Switch is due for release in late 2026.

To do:

  • Every file here is missing the game's name in their filenames.
  • The formatting could be better.
  • Development article for the December 2024 leaks.
  • A debug build was accidentally pushed on February 3, 2026, which has quite a few differences compared to the retail release. A subpage could be made for this.

Unused Sounds#

Located in Ghost/Content/FMOD/Desktop/Master.bank are some unused placeholder voice lines for Patrick and SpongeBob in Jellyfish Fields.

Platform Differences#

  • The PC version pre-compiles the game's shaders when it's started up for the first time, something that doesn't occur in the other versions.
  • The console versions have a "Quality" (30fps target) and "Performance" (60fps) preset. The PC version has more graphics options, and supports frame-rates higher than 60.
  • The Switch 2 version utilizes screen-space reflections instead of the Lumen-based ones, though the dynamic global illumination method still appears to be Lumen-based. Handheld mode disables Lumen altogether.

Internal Project Name#

The game's internal project name is "Ghost", based on the folder containing the game's assets. This likely refers to the main gimmick of this game, ghosts.
