Pokémon Masters EX

Changed Graphics#

Graphics from released versions of the game that were later changed in later updates for one reason or another.

Trainers#

Cyrus

Cyrus' model initially lacked one of the segments on the garment underneath his jacket, resulting in him showing more neck. His model was updated to fix this inaccuracy about two months later, with his renders likewise being updated alongside it.

Crasher Wake

Crasher Wake's menu render originally had a different pose with outstretched arms. This was changed in version 2.9.0 to a pose where Crasher Wake's hands are on his hips, preventing him from covering other character's faces on the results screen.

1.0.0 - 2.8.0

2.9.0 - Current

Siebold (Holiday 2019)

Holiday Siebold's model was updated 2.5 years after his release to adjust the appearance of his hands, which coincided with the release of his 6★ EX. Only his Vs render was changed to account for this, however.

1.2.0 - 2.17.0

2.18.0 - Current

Lance

Lance's EX poses for his standard outfit and Arc Suit were changed in version 2.52.0 to reference his battle sprite from Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver instead of his official artwork from the same games. This was done because Lance's outstretched arm on the old pose covered up a significant portion of the character to the left of him on the victory screen.

Hilda saw a very slight modification to her body's texture, namely the pockets in her vest and the UVs on her pants.

Trainer Lodge Images#

Adaman

Initially Adaman's model had a small error where his right eyebrow was not modeled correctly (the slit was mirrored in both sides rather than asymmetrically). This was later fixed and all his renders and lodge artwork were corrected, though this isn't really noticeable on his standard menu renders.

Wally

The Lodge Photo Backgrounds were originally too small to fit the full intended image frame. The next update after Lodge Wally's release the backgrounds were made bigger.

Sygna Suit Gladion

Seems like 2.41.0 was a bad time to have a Lodge image. Upon release SS Gladion's Lodge Background was scuffed, showcasing a small segment of next months Lodge member Skyla's Background and having the same issue as Wally with size. This was corrected in the following 2.42.0 update.

Pokémon#

Eevee

Eevee's model was changed to its Pokémon HOME model in 2.38.0 when Elaine & Eevee were released, which affected the existing Leaf & Eevee pair, as its female and shiny textures were now needed. The most noticeable changes are that textures are higher quality and the shadows are different.

Unused Animations#

Battle_Shot#

A pose that every Trainer character model has, It's their Vs graphic but with the actual 3D model. Some of the earliest characters in the game have proper posing beyond the Icon renders. Some characters beyond 1.0.0 do as well, but not many as most have clipping bodyparts everywhere. This can imply they were worked at an earlier point in development compared to release (N was released 15 months after the game released).

Before Ash was made scoutable, his NPC version (Ch_0264_01_Voicechangesatoshi) had unused animations for having a Pokémon return to its Poké Ball and throwing out a Poké Ball in Co-op. His animations were changed to no longer use the Poké Ball when he became scoutable, as Ash's Sync Pair is formed with his Poké Ball-hating Pikachu.

Hidden Ash Medals Functionality#

If you did not participate in the Blazing Battle with Ash Special Event, the medals from it are hidden in the Event medals menu. This functionality also works if you only own some of the medals, showing the Event name but only displaying the medals you obtained while the event was on-going.

Specifically: Look more into how all these work.
Japan, English Voices for Trainer Lodge

Time of Day#

Depending on where your account was created or language was set the time of day in both the Pokémon Center and Trainer Lodge will be day or night at a different time to reflect relative timezones.

Voice Credits#

Have fun looking online for who voiced her (Amber Connor)
Blank.png

When viewing a Trainer while playing on a Japanese account with Japanese voices selected a small header will show up to the top right of the screen listing their CV (voice actor/actress), only when voice clips are selected. When playing with an English account this feature is hidden entirely for both Japanese and English voices. When playing with English voices with a Japanese account it will also be hidden. There are no "voice_actor_name_en_(language)" files for this function to exist.

This is also present in the Trainer Lodge when inviting a guest, in the Japanese version with Japanese voices selected the character's CV will be listed underneath the character's name.

Dummy Files#

In the game's files are eight voice_actor_name_jp_(language).lsd.json files. Out of all eight (Danish, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese) only the Japanese file has information filled in for each voice actor.

Used

Download voice_actor_name_jp_ja.lsd.zip 2.50.0

Unused Example

Download voice_actor_name_jp_en.lsd.zip 2.50.0

File: Pokemonmastersex voice actor name jp en.lsd.zip (5 KB) (info)

Besides the filenames the other six are identical content wise.

Twitter/X Connectivity#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Is there a .json file used for this connectivity?

To do:
In-game examples.

In the Japanese version it is possible to connect to a Twitter/X account to enter certain events, which will grant rewards like Move Candy Coins, Non-paid Gems and other prizes (in-game or real-world). This function does not exist in any other version of the game.

Internal Project Name#

The game's internal project name is "Kenya", evidenced by filepaths inside the .apk "assets\config\kenya.android.config", "assets\resources\assets\Config\KenyaBuildConfig.json" and "assets\ui\Common\font\Kenya_South Side".
