Pokémon Rumble

Pokémon Rumble is a sort of beat-'em-up starring windup Toy Pokémon. It's also the first game in the Rumble subseries. This entry only features Kanto and Sinnoh Pokémon likely due to the filesize limit on WiiWare games, with many leftovers related to the missing Johto and Hoenn Pokémon.

To do:

  • When a way to decompress all files in batch is present, decompress *.CX files. Executable strings? main.bmg and script.bmg have text differences... Is this interesting?

My Pokémon Ranch Leftovers#

Unused Sounds#

waza_p.brsar/SE/PAGE contains the sounds for browsing through Pokémon boxes in Ranch.

waza_p.brsar/SE/CURSOR contains the Cursor sounds.

waza_p.brsar/SE/Pii contains two sounds: FALL and RISE.

waza_p.brsar/SE/MOVE contains a sound named EFFECT.

waza_p.brsar/SE/KOTTI contains a sound called MUITE

waza_p.brsar/SE/AIRSHIP contains a looping sound fittingly named LOOP.

waza_p.brsar/SE/TOY contains 5 sounds, 4 of which are unused.

waza_p.brsar/SE/EFFECT is a sound for an object in Ranch.

waza_p.brsar/SE/JUMP contains the sound for the spring.

waza_p.brsar/SE/KOROGARI contains a 2 second sound and an alternate launcher sound.

waza_p.brsar/SE/KAITEN contains an environmental sound(?)

waza_p.brsar/SE/MAGICAL contains 3 sounds, 2 of which are unused.

waza_p.brsar/SE/CONNECT contains a sound named EFFECT1

waza_p.brsar/SE/HIKIYOSE contains 2 sounds, one being a duplicate of the spring, the other being named ESA.

Empty cries#

Inside waza_p.brsar/SE/NORMAL are the sound effects for every Pokémon's cry. PV0152 - PV0387 ("PV" meaning Pokémon Voice) contain no audio.

Unused Models#

X_PIKATYUU_M_#

X_PIKATYUU_M_.brres is a leftover model of Flying Pikachu from My Pokémon Ranch. The balloons appear grey as they have no textures to pull from. X_PIKATYUU_F_.brres contains a female version.

(Source: Curdmaster12)

X_OKUTAN_M_brres#

X_OKUTAN_M_brres is an untextured, unused model of Octillery wearing a Focus Band, a reference to Golgo's Octillery from a popular Pokémon Sunday broadcast moment. This model was used in a Japanese-exclusive Guest event in My Pokémon Ranch.

Pokémon Names#

Inside msg.arc.cx is a pokemon.bmg file which contains every Pokémon's name in National Dex order. After 493 is Egg, Bad Egg, Nidoran, followed by form names and ending on Manaphy.

Similarly (zkn_type.bmg also from msg.arc.cx) contains every Pokémon's category, also including those not in Rumble.

Unused Pokémon Ticket IDs#

Using a Gecko code it is possible to use the Recruit Point to receive any Pokémon you want using their dex number in hexadecimal. Typing in the hexadecimal code for a Pokémon not in Rumble will display it's name from pokemon.bmg, then crash the game as there is no model to load.

Unused Text#

To do:
There's more text.

Present in main.bmg is leftover text from a demo version:

Thanks for playing!

In the game's executable is a mention for a disc of the game, considered a DVD.

Unused Moves#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically:

  • Gifs of every unused move.
  • How different (or not) are they from their versions featured in Rumble Blast?

There are many moves that can be hacked in using a Dolphin memory editor to change the currently used Pokémon's moves, some of which are signature moves that can only be learned and used by Gen 2 and 3 Pokémon not in the game.

Test#

A simple swipe attack that doesn't do much damage but can topple any Pokémon instantly.

Aeroblast#

The signature move of Lugia.

Sacred Fire#

the signature move of Ho-oh.

Mist Ball#

The signature move of Latias.

Luster Purge#

The signature move of Latios.

  • Known functional

Psycho Boost#

The signature move of Deoxys.

Doom Desire#

The signature move of Jirachi.

Unused Trait#

An unused trait named Dummy was used as a placeholder during development. It doesn't have any known properties.

Unlocalised Trait Pokémon#

To do:

  • Screenshots of the code Pokemon in-game in English and Japanese.

In the Japanese version 4 traits were assigned to special code Pokémon that went untranslated in other version of the game. They all have different names but function similar to the Rally trait.

PID, TID, SID Functions#

Every time a new save file is created a Trainer ID and Secret ID not dissimilar to the one featured in the main series game is also created. Each Pokémon also has its own PID like in the main series games, with shininess calculated using both.

Spinda Spot Code#

Additionally, the PID code used for Spinda's spot placements is incredibly similar to how it works in the core series games.

  • Only by using the Weekend Edition mod can the Spinda Spot patterns actually be seen in-game, however.

Species Leftovers#

Changing a Pokémon's species to one not featured in Rumble will make it function similarly to how it would. Changing a Pokémon's species to Spoink will make it bounce and by Psychic Type. These modified Pokemon can also learn new moves in the terminal corresponded to what the new species would learn. Only when opening the menu while trying to load the actual species model will make the game crash.

Unused Mode#

To do:

  • Explain this better.

There are three main modes the players can progress through, Normal, Advanced and EX, labelled as 0, 1 and 2, but in the code for the ranks there are four, 1 for C, 2 for B, 3 for A and 4 for S. Using an editor it is possible to load "rank 0" versions of levels.

(Source: AbsolBlogsPokemon)

Debug Levels#

Rank 0 levels#

Continuing from the Unused Mode, all the levels in rank 0 are empty and will crash the game after using the first room's trampoline.

Silent Forest Caterpie Level#

The only unused level that appears to be functional in some way, this version of Silent Forest only features Caterpie. In order to progress you must defeat all the Caterpie for the trampoline to spawn, which once used will restart the level in an endless loop. This fiction isn't normally present in other levels.

Full Collection Display#

To do:

  • Show this unmodded and say where the code is.

The Collection screen has code to display all 493 Pokémon as Rumble's release, including alternate forms for Pokémon like Castform and the yet-to-be-revealed Arceus. This is disabled by default to only display all 151 Kanto Pokémon and all (revealed) Sinnoh Pokémon.

(Source: AbsolBlogsPokemon)

Build Date#

To do:
Add the rest of the versions.

00000000.app (opening.bnr) includes the build date of the channel, as well as the builder information:

Script Message File#

English (US)

Debug Menu#

To do:
Dump the strings from other regions?

debug.bmg in the msg.arc file in the *xx_XX* directory (depending on regions) has a ridiculous amount of debugging strings mentioned. The game's executable does not have this file mentioned for use. When referencing the Pokémon Rumble World prototypes, it likely only has use from debug builds of the game.
