Mortal Kombat II (Game Gear)

No blood code needed for this one. And hey, unlike the Game Boy port, this Mortal Kombat II has Kintaro!

Playing as CPU Characters#

Unlike most Mortal Kombat games, controlling the characters normally reserved for the CPU will not crash the game! Jumping, kicking, punching, and blocking work properly. Pressing Down will give control of the character to the CPU until either player is hit.

These controls were almost definitely used by the developers to test the bosses' attacks and AI routines.

The following Pro Action Replay (PAR) codes will enable CPU characters to be picked on the character select screen:

  • Kintaro (moving while jumping will change the sprite to Jax): 00C4-2B08
  • Shao Kahn (moving while jumping will change the sprite to Jax): 00C4-2B09
  • Smoke: 00C4-2B0A
  • Jade: 00C4-2B0C

Noob Saibot?#

What kind of ninja wears black clothes? Pshaw

Pro Action Replay (PAR) code 00C4-2B0B will allow you to play as (what's left of) Noob Saibot. He uses the female ninja sprite with a black palette, with Jade's name in the health bar. Note that, unlike the other bosses, Noob has no battle script, so pressing Down while playing as him will crash the game.
