The first release of the game was notoriously glitchy. A fixed version was reissued a full month after release, distinguishable by a red disc label (the original release used a yellow one) and a "HOT! NEW!" label on the cover.

  • VMU support added, despite the manual still saying it's missing. Your options, unlocks, endings, etc. can all be saved to VMU.
  • Fixed copious crash/reset bugs all across the game.
  • Fixed a bug where if Player 1 won Tournament Mode, a square with the title screen graphic would be loaded on the Congratulations screen instead of the proper character model.
  • Fixed a bug where under certain circumstances the wrong assets for a fight would load, resulting in bizarre visual glitches. (For example, two main menu boxes punching character select icons out of each other!)
  • Fixed a glitch where sometimes a single vertex from a character model would stretch off into infinity.
  • Fixed a glitch where fighting Goro in certain circumstances would cause the wrong model assets to load, causing Goro to appear as a mishmash of other character bits.
  • Fixed various glitches surrounding performing Fatalities with Sub-Zero's third costume.
