Unused Pedestrians

This is a sub-page of Grand Theft Auto IV.

Unused Pedestrians#

Pedestrians that don't appear anywhere in the game.

M_Y_Boho_01#

Completely unused pedestrian.

The only time he appeared was the one of the very first screenshots of the game that was taken in East Hook. Pre-release screenshot

M_Y_FF_RScafe & F_Y_FF_RSCafe#

Unused Rockstar Café employees.

GTAIV_M_Y_FF_RScafe.png GTAIV_F_Y_FF_RSCafe.png

These employees are unused as the Rockstar Café was renamed to the Superstar Café in the final version of the game.

M_Y_FF_WSpizza_R#

Another unused employee, this time from The Well Stacked Pizza Co., which does not have any operational stores in the town.

M_M_Busdriver#

An unused bus driver.

The only place where buses can be seen being driven around is the Francis International Airport, but its being driven by random airport workers, this pedestrian goes unused for such job.

M_M_Train_01#

Unused subway train driver.

The subway train model has a hidden driver's room, which is probably where this pedestrian supposed to be used.

Outside

Inside

M_M_Gunnut_01#

Unused arms dealer.

His voicelines still used in the game, but for whatever reason the model was replaced by a bouncer from Honkers club.

M_M_Firechief#

Unused fire chief.

According to his audio file, he supposed to arrive on "prank" calls, but for some reason two firefighters arrives instead.

M_Y_Shopasst_01#

Unused shop assistant.

According to the model look, he supposed to be a clothing seller at the Modo store, but for some reason the developers made a separate model - M_Y_Modo.

M_Y_Swordswallow#

Unused sword swallower.

Although this has not been confirmed, there is a poster in the Perestroika club listing some of the actors who work there, and the sword swallower is mentioned among the actors, but the image there is not of this pedestrian at all, but of M_Y_Goon_01

F_Y_Doctor_01#

Unused female doctor.

Unlike the male doctor, she doesn't appear anywhere, nor missions or anywhere else.

F_O_Maid_01#

Unused maid of the Majestic hotel.

It is unknown if she was supposed to appear on the Late Checkout mission or in some other scenarios.

Partially Used Pedestrians#

Pedestrians that may appear on certain missions, cutscenes, or other scenarios, but according to various leftovers they were initially meant to be among the mass of other pedestrians that appears on the streets.

M_M_Alcoholic#

This pedestrian can be seen on the Final Interview mission cutscene, and on some in-game TV footages.

According to pedpersonality.dat file, he supposed to be another homeless.

M_M_Alcoholic, M, 50, 1, 3, 0.9, 1.6, 2, 50, E, E, core_moves, hits_pool, unarmed_ped, counters_player, firearm_core, -, -, move_rubbish, +bum+criminal+onfoot+smoker+watchfight+murderattack+cancarryweapons

For some reason he also written in unused # POPCYCLE_GROUP_FASHION pedgrp group.

# POPCYCLE_GROUP_FASHION
F_Y_Cdress_01
M_M_Alcoholic

M_M_EECook#

Eastern European cook, from which the developers made into a diamond dealer. He can be seen only in cutscenes in the same look, whereas his texture file has more face and clothes variations. What makes people think that this character could be used as a regular pedestrian is that Chinatown has its own cook named M_M_KoreaCook_01 that appears on the streets. Presumably this cook may have been planned to appear on Hove Beach streets (if think about it logically).

M_M_Shortorder#

Same situation as above, but this one can be seen in The Cousins Bellic mission cutscene, and in TBoGT in one of the club management missions.

M_Y_Mechanic_02#

Appears on couple of Brucie's mission cutscenes.

According to the pre-release screenshot that was taken in Alderney City, he supposed to appeared among other pedestrians on the streets.

F_M_PLatin_02#

Appears only on Escuela of the Streets mission cutscene.

By the name of the model, it can be understood that she was second version of the F_M_PLatin_01 pedestrian, she uses her voice lines as well.

F_Y_PLatin_02#

From a simple pedestrian developers made her one of Nikos' girlfriends.

According to pre-release screenshot and Hating the Haters mission, she was a regular pedestrian who supposed to appear on the streets.

F_Y_PLatin_03#

Everything is the same just like with F_M_PLatin_02, she can be seen on Escuela of the Streets mission cutscene and all that.

Interestingly, she appeared on couple of images from Brucie's vehicle thefts, both images were taken in Northwood, which means that she was in the Latinas peds group. She also has +drivesmotorcycle flag in pedpersonality.dat file, interesting coincidence given that she was spotted on images with motorcycles. F_Y_Platin_03, F, 21, 4, 1, 1.1, 1.5, 3, 50, E, S, core_moves, hits_pool, unarmed_ped, counters_player, firearm_core, -, -, move_rubbish, +drivesmotorcycle+gardening

M_Y_Chopshop_01#

Appears on Search and Delete mission as Lyle Rivas character, and on Knowing Me Knowing You mission in TLAD as bugging expert.

Final game has only M_Y_Chopshop_02 in pedgrp.dat file, while this pedestrian is missing from there.

M_M_Enforcer#

This pedestrian is quite often used in various missions, firstly as a "slimeball" on the Ilyena Faustin mission, then as a helicopter pilot on the Paper Trail mission, and finally as a character Frankie Gallo.

In pedpersonality.dat file he listed as criminal and bowling player, but he doesn't play bowling anyways.

M_M_Enforcer, M, 49, 1, 4, 1.1, 1.5, 4, 50, E, E, core_moves, hits_pool, unarmed_ped, counters_player, firearm_core, -, -, move_rubbish, +bowling+criminal+drivesaveragecar+drivesrichcar+onfoot+smoker+phoneuser+replytoho+taketaxi+watchfight+murdershakefist+murdercallpolice+cancarryweapons

F_Y_Cdress_01#

Appears on various missions, and on CNT TV show as Cloe Parker character.

She is written in two unused pedgrp groups, and therefore never appears on the streets.

F_Y_PCool_01 & F_Y_PManhat_03#

Same situation as with F_Y_PLatin_02, developers turned them from regular pedestrians into Niko's girlfriends.

GTAIV_F_Y_PCool_01.png GTAIV_F_Y_PManhat_03.png

According to various pre-release materials, they were meant to appear in Algonquin districts. Frame from the CNT TV show, where lots of F_Y_PCool_01 models can be seen

M_M_Hporter_01#

Majestic hotel worker that appears on the Late Checkout mission.

It is unknown if he was supposed to appear anywhere else, but he has a fair number of voice lines for various situations, including lines of conversations on the walkie talkie, who knows where all this could have been used.

M_Y_Cop_Traffic#

Despite being commonly used in early versions of the game, this pedestrian was almost completely removed from the game, the only time where he still appears is the Pest Control mission in the tollbooth, probably developers forgot to remove him from there.

M_M_Doctor_01 & M_M_Doc_Scrubs_01#

Both of these doctors appear on the Flatline mission. According to their audio files (including F_Y_Doctor_01) all of these doctors have medical chat lines, which means that they're supposed to appear in the hospitals at some point, in the final game the hospitals are always filled with nurses, who uses those "medical chat" lines as well.

Removed Pedestrians#

Pedestrians that were completely removed, but from which various leftovers remained in the files.

M_Y_Zombie_01 & M_Y_Zombie_02#

Featured in speech.rpf.
Unknown removed pedestrian, from which only audio is left, however the audio is not unused, it is for some reason gets reused by M_M_Lawyer_01.

batchped.xml#

Thanks to the Grand Theft Auto V source code leak, it became known that a considerable number of pedestrians from IV were removed, but other than the names of the pedestrians, nothing else is known about them.
This list also includes several removed pedestrians the leftovers of which can be found in the files of the IV itself, these include: M_Y_BKitalian_01, M_Y_HPATROL, M_Y_Zombie_01 and M_Y_Zombie_02.

Specific pedestrian for crossing road or something?

F_Y_Street_37#

\Ped_models\F_Y_Street_37\F_Y_Street_37.max

Removed generic pedestrian, final game has female street pedestrians with numbers 02, 05, 09, 12, 30, 34.

F_Y_Trendy_02#

\Ped_models\F_Y_Trendy_02\F_Y_Trendy_02.max

There is only F_Y_Trendy_01 and only in TBoGT, kinda strange why IV supposed to have second version of this pedestrian, just for the first one to appear in TBoGT.

M_M_ArmsDeal_01#

\Ped_models\M_M_ArmsDeal_01\M_M_ArmsDeal_01.max

The name of the pedestrian speaks for itself - he supposed to be an arms dealer, it's funny that the developers made a different model for arms dealer called M_M_Gunnut_01, just for it to ended up being unused.

M_M_DEA_01#

\Ped_models\M_M_DEA_01\M_M_DEA_01.max

There is no such thing as DEA in IV, but it was in previous Grand Theft Auto games, perhaps developers wanted to continue this in HD universe.

M_M_Zombiedoc#

\Ped_models\M_M_Zombiedoc\M_M_Zombiedoc.max

A regular biker that was not related to any of the gangs?

M_Y_BoHoVillage_01#

\Ped_models\M_Y_BoHoVillage_01\M_Y_BoHoVillage_01.max

Final game has only M_Y_BoHoguy_01 and unused M_Y_BoHo_01, this one appears to be from some kind of village, but there is absolutely no villages in IV...

M_Y_cop_winter#

\Ped_models\M_Y_cop_winter\M_Y_cop_winter.max

Another clue in the theory about what developers were planning with the winter season in IV.

M_Y_FastFoodSlim#

\Ped_models\M_Y_FastFoodSlim\M_Y_FastFoodSlim.max

Completely unknown pedestrian that was connected with some kind of fastfood place.

M_Y_FF_Noodle_R#

\Ped_models\M_Y_FF_Noodle_R\M_Y_FF_Noodle_R.max

The final game has some ads related to Noodle Exchange restaurant, however, there is no establishment as such in the game and this removed pedestrian proofs that there was some plans regarding it.

M_Y_FF_Pang_R#

\Ped_models\M_Y_FF_Pang_R\M_Y_FF_Pang_R.max

Despite being called pang, this was an employee from removed Ping fastfood place, audio of which still exist in game files.

M_Y_GenStreet_15#

\Ped_models\M_Y_GenStreet_15\M_Y_GenStreet_15.max

Removed generic pedestrian, final game has genstreet pedestrians with numbers 11, 16, 20, 34.

Completely unknown pedestrian that can't be connected with anything from the final game.

M_Y_ShopAsst_04#

\Ped_models\M_Y_ShopAsst_04\M_Y_ShopAsst_04.max

Final game has only M_Y_Shopasst_01, which is unused.

The final game has only M_Y_Streetblk_02 and M_Y_Streetblk_03, these ones have some odd naming, what could a and hair possibly stand for in case of pedestrians is a mystery.

M_Y_Streetguy_02#

\Ped_models\M_Y_Streetguy_02\M_Y_Streetguy_02.max

Some generic name for a pedestrian, final game has a bunch of pedestrians with similar street names.
