Chapter One

This is a sub-page of Grand Theft Auto IV/The Lost and Damned/Unused Mission-Related Content.

Clean and Serene#

During the dialogue on the way to the clubhouse, one of Johnny's lines is ignored by the game.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Only Billy Grey would get taken down on a distribution beef and end up in a country club.

How were things in there?

Billy

You know, John boy, it was kinda hard. Harder than you'd think.

Johnny

Really?

It seems that on the way back, Johnny could also talk to Brian among the other bikers, however, the situation here is somewhat unusual, since only one line remains from this conversation, which goes as the second one (E1B1_A_BB_01), while E1B1_A_BA_01 and E1B1_A_BC_01 are missing, as well as possible subtitles for them.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

And you better remember that Bill ain't gay. But that doesn't stop you from sucking on his johnson.

In the american.gxt file, a part of some unknown mission is mixed with Clean and Serene mission. Clean and Serene is under a B1 (Billy 1) tag, while unknown mission has a BP tag. Its objectives are fairly clear, but one thing remains in questions - what is this mission and how it was connected with Clean and Serene.

Ride to where the machines are being unloaded.

Destroy all of the machines.

Get on your bike.

Get back on your bike.

Ride back to the clubhouse.

Your bike was wrecked.

A member of The Lost is dead.

Angels in America#

It seems that Ashley was originally supposed to be present in this mission during the first cutscene, as indicated by the pre-release screenshot, this would explain the fact that Billy was asking about her in the previous mission and telling Johnny to call her, instead she was replaced with some female gang member. Pre-release screenshot

During the second part of the cutscene, one of the AOD members that Billy shoots at the end of the dialogue has an unused vest texture with a trace of a shot. It completely fits the final AOD member appearance and has no problem of being used here. GTAIV_TLAD_AngelsInAmerica_UnusedVest.png

Among the objectives there are several lines that were apparently used as a placeholder for some time.

Burn in hell Angels!

Take that you pricks!

Die motherfuckers!

Similar to the Clean and Serene mission, there is some unfinished and unused audio leftover in case if Jason gets killed dies during the chase. There are no lines from Billy here, only the lines from Johnny, which are listed as second and fourth ones.

Character

Billy

Johnny

No, I didn't. Jason got killed trying to clean up your mess.

Billy

Johnny

You want to be our leader? Then start behaving like one.

An unused "Let the good times roll" line from Billy.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Billy

Deadbeats won't screw with us anytime soon. Let the good times roll!

It's War#

At some point there was a need to get back to the clubhouse.

Get back to the clubhouse.

Action/Reaction#

While being in the A.O.D's clubhouse, Johnny supposed to cough because of the smoke that was in the interior.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

N/A

Shit.

Fucking smoke.

Unused alternate lines from Billy when he leaving the scene with the Lost crew.

Used

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Billy

We're outta here.

Unused

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Billy

Let's get the fuck outta here. Every man for himself.

So long, brothers. Wash the taste of gun powder out your mouths with a cold American beer.

Unused text variation of racing to the A.O.D. clubhouse, which was focused on Billy.

Early

Final

Race against Billy to the A.O.D. clubhouse.

Race the Lost crew to the A.O.D. clubhouse.

Liberty City Choppers#

Similar to Angels in America, the mission text contains a couple of placeholder lines

Let's do this.

Fuck yeah.

Leave the bikes, I'll have them looked after.

On this mission having wanted level was not allowed according to these lines from Jim.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

The cops're closing in.

Them sirens get real tiresome after a while.

Get away from these cops, man.

Unused alternate lines from Jim where he says to call for backup.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

This is getting too hot, my brother. Why don't you call the boys in to help.

Call the boys man, they're closing in on us here.

An unused line in which Johnny sounds much angrier when he calls for backup.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Hey man, get your asses over here now. Jim and I are in the shit!

After loading the last bike, Jim had to say one of these lines

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

Alright, that's the all of them. Let's get outta here.

We got all we can carry, Johnny boy. You and me gotta get outta here.

We got what we came for, brother. Let's move out.

Johnny has several unused lines related to getting rid of ramps, in the final the ramps are removed automatically without the player's input.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Yo, I'm gonna drop these ramps.

Let's get rid of these ramps.

Let's ditch these things.

After getting into the truck, Jim was supposed to say about going back to the place, in the final Johnny says this, which is why the following lines remain unused.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

Take her back to the house.

Back to the source, my man.

Head home, Johnny boy.

Speaking of getting back, it looks like the truck was originally supposed to be driven to the clubhouse, as evidenced by both objectives and Jim's unused lines about the Angels of Death not going into that area.

Follow Jim back to the clubhouse.

Go to the clubhouse.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

These assholes don't have the balls to follow us to the clubhouse. We're in the clear, man.

We're cool, Johnny. The AOD won't come this far into Lost territory.

Bad Cop Drop#

Unused mission description, obviously this was made only for developers.

Johnny has to go with Jim to lure some undercover cops who have been hassling the Lost clubhouse into an area where they can take them out.

Unused line from Jim when he gives pistol to Johnny.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Nothing like the feel of a fully automatic pistol in your hand, you son of a bitch.

Jim

This is just like the old days.

Originally, instead of racing to the cops' location, the player was supposed to follow Jim, and during this ride, there is supposed to be a little conversation about the upcoming event.

Early

Final

Follow Jim to the cops' location.

Race Jim to the cops.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

I don't like people having a hold on me like this. People ask me why I dislike cops...

Johnny

I know, but they can't all be all bad.

Jim

Yeah, just the ones in Liberty City.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

The second I start thinking maybe the law is okay.

Johnny

Another one goes on the take.

Jim

You know, there's some people on the LCPD who'd thank us for what we're about to do.

Unused Jim lines about need of losing wanted level

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

We got to lose this heat, man.

Hey man, can you shake this bacon?

Johnny man, we can't have the cops catching us now. Lose this heat.

It seems that it was possible to avoid arrival of the police reinforcements, or at least try to stop anyone from calling for them, which is inevitable in the final since they gets called automatically as soon as the player arrives at the destination.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

They're calling for backup, Johnny. Cut 'em off.

We can't let 'em call for backup, Johnny boy. Close 'em down.

Johnny, they're calling in for reinforcements. Shut 'em up.

Apparently this supposed to be triggered as the police were being eliminated, and reinforcements had to be called by one of the remaining ones.

One of the cops is trying to call for help

Matthews is calling for backup.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Matthews

Officer down. Officer down. We need fucking back up ten minutes ago!

Round up the boys. We got a cop killer on our hands! Man down!

Back up! Back up! Some perps have just got a hard on for killing cops. We got a man down!

McCornish is calling for backup.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

McCornish

Send in the wrecking crew, Sarge. We got a couple of bikers need to be taught a fucking lesson.

Hey Sarge, me and Matthews need a hand. Send out some boys who ain't afraid to break some fucking heads.

Tell some of the boys to get their nightsticks out, Sarge. We got a couple of bikers need to be broken.

If the call for backup was not prevented, Jim was meant to say one of the following lines

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

Great, here come the rest of them.

And here are their buddies. Just great.

More of Liberty's least fine. Just what we need.

After killing the last cop, Johnny supposed to say one of these lines

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

That's the last of them.

So long, coppers.

That was easier than paying a bribe.

The end of the mission was completely different, instead of talking to Jim and leaving the area, the player had to go with him to the clubhouse, there were even a couple of dialogues planned for this trip, which ended up being unused.

Used

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

We got lucky there, Johnny boy. I thought we'd be shovelling shit for those dudes 'til God knows when.

Johnny

Now you know we ain't going out like that, Jim. I'll see you soon.

Unused

Go and speak to Jim.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Alright then James, that's a few less dirty cops polluting this fine city.

Jim

Something tells me they weren't the only ones in the LCPD, Johnny. Back to the house, my man.

Take Jim back to the clubhouse.

First dialogue

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Man that shit was heavy. I feel bad for them bastards. Once upon a time, they must have wanted to do good.

Jim

The second they shook us down for money, man, they came down to our level.

Worse; at least we ain't pretending to respect the law.

Johnny

Yeah, dude, you're right.

Jim

A dirty cop's just like a Deadbeat or a Triad or any other crook in this town.

Only they're just hypocrites as well.

Johnny

Yeah, paying taxes and declaring incomes. And all the while taking the kickbacks.

Jim

Yeah, they spend the kickbacks on getting high and getting hole - just like the rest of us.

They should get treated like the rest of us as well. Law of the streets.

Alternate dialogue

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

How you feeling, Jim? Billy, man. I hope he handles his shit.

Jim

Hey, Billy's Billy. They had him cooped up in that place for a while. He's just blowin' off some steam.

Johnny

Sure. How the hell did Billy managed to get off with rehab, anyway?

Couple of therapy sessions and he's free as a bird?

Jim

I guess it's that lawyer he knows - Grossman.

Johnny

Yeah? Can't think of what I'd prefer, time in the joint or hanging with some sleazeball lawyer.

Man, I want the old Billy back, the one before the heroin.

Buyer's Market#

Not much here, except that the phonecall about Stubbs was not meant to be connected with this mission, but rather triggered randomly during freeroam, according to unused start of the conversation.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Billy Grey my brother!

Billy

We are moving up in the world, Johnny.

There's a Congressman, needs your help, Tom Stubbs III.

Also, a couple of the dancing girls in this mission cutscene have unused glasses models.

Politics#

Stubbs' help in this mission was originally quite different and more interesting, offering the player the opportunity to disguise as an airport worker, and thus get closer to the target. A phonecall dialogue was recorded for this, which was replaced by text message in final.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Stubbs.

Stubbs

Klebitz. I thought you should know my Uncle's exact movements.

He's coming into Francis International from his estate in South Carraway in the family helicopter.

He'll land and travel in a car convoy to the Civic Citadel.

Johnny

I'm guessing you don't want me to hurt the precious family chopper.

Stubbs

Don't worry about that. We've got terrorism insurance up to our eye balls.

Life insurance too, for that matter. Oh no, you take out my dearest kin any way you can.

Johnny

You know, you're really starting to grow on me.

Stubbs

Oh, don't get sentimental, Klebitz. It's unappealing. I am a WASP, after all.

The next, and the key part of this dialogue is missing from the american.gxt file, probably the subtitles for it were either not made at the moment or was cut.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Stubbs

Oh, and before you go, if you need help there might be a way I can get you closer to the convoy.

It's a nightmare to set up, and it's going to incur expenses, which I'm afraid will have to come out of your end, but...

Let me know if you need it. Good luck!

If the player felt he might need Stubbs' help, he could make a phonecall, which would lead to the following additional objectives.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Stubbs

Ah, Mr. Klebitz, in need of some help, are we?

Johnny

Yeah, I guess I am.

Stubbs

Alright, I'll make the call. There's going to be a car for you in short term parking.

It'll have a baggage handler uniform in it that should get you access to the runways. Enjoy yourself.

Johnny

You too.

Get the uniform in the car to pass by security.

You have the uniform to pass by security. Go to the runway.

You now have the luggage porter clothes and can obtain access into the airport. Take out the target.

Off Route#

Prisoners, as well as the prison guards have unused glasses models.

After uncuffing the prisoners, Johnny was also supposed to tell them to use guns for self-defense.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Take a hold of some weapons. Defend yourselves!

You yuppies are gonna have to get your hands dirty. Take some weapons, it's either that, or life inside.

I can't do this by myself, yuppies. Pick up some weapons and stick it to the man!

Although this feature is not used, the bus has three seats from which prisoners could use guns, only problem is that they never do this.

If the player was having trouble evading the police, he could call Jim to get the brothers (Terry and Clay most likely) involved so they would take the police attention on themselves.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Jim

Jonathan, what's the problem?

Johnny

I need some help, brother. The cherry tops have got me closed in. I need some friends to take some of the heat for me.

Jim

Anything for a brother in need. I'll tell them to listen out for the sirens. Good luck with it.

Althrough it's not clear whether this is how it was supposed to work or not, because Johnny has several lines where he greets the brothers when they arrive, they probably came to help, but not help to get rid of the wanted level apparently, in any case, this moment remains in question.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Good to see you, boys.

Thanks for joining the party, brothers.

Have at 'em, brothers. Great to see ya.

Upon arriving at the destination, Johnny was supposed to tell the person meeting them to get rid of the prison bus, which he does later anyway.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Cops'll be lookin' for this bus. You better ditch it.

The dialogue before sending the prisoners on boats was a little more interesting.

Character

Clip

Subtitle

Johnny

Here we are. Your boat to the new world awaits.

First Prisoner

Thank you, sir. My fellow prisoners and I are most grateful.

Second Prisoner

You don't know what he's like, don't leave us here. Take me back, take me baaack!

First Prisoner

We've got a boat to catch.

Third Prisoner

All aboard, come on!

First Prisoner

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside.
