This is a sub-page of Proto:Fallout: New Vegas.

A late January build, with a number of interesting changes.

Quests

Let's Have A Party/The Fort - Arena Fight Variables (VMS34)#

In this build the quest is called Let's Have A Party, but in subsequent builds past this one it has been repurposed to the following: "The Fort - Arena Fight Variables". Whether this was an early name for that quest, or a different quest scrapped and overwritten once the Arena was introduced is not currently known. Worth noting is that the infected Brahmin meat quest was removed at the same time The Fort's arena was introduced, so this may have simply been the name for that quest.

The Enemy Of My Enemy/Render Unto Caesar (VMQ02)#

An unused quest stage that shows at one point the player would've needed to visit the Great Khans on Caesar's request. This is referenced in the design document "Caesar Dialogue Plan", documented on the Independent Fallout Wiki. It contains the following objective, index 30: "Go to Red Rock camp and meet with Karl; assess his work with tribe; learn from his successes or mistakes; terminate him if he has failed". Beyond this, however, it's not known what else this stage would have involved.

< Great Khans Objective>

Additionally, there are unused scripts and object placements for the first part of this quest that reveal the original plan was for the player to flood the Securitron bunker, not just blow it up. These scripts remain in the final, and have been commented out rather than outright deleted. Though just speculation, its possible that the developers intended to revisit and finish this scenario, but never had the chance. More information on this version of the quest can be found on the main quest page.

The Fort#

There are also a number of messages related to earlier versions of quests at The Fort, including the infected Brahmin meat quest and I Hear You Knocking. The actual text for the messages, however, is not present in this dump. They are present in the next one, the February 3rd build, so the quests have been summarised there with the other remnants for ease of viewing.

Unused NPCs

Beggars#

Initial placements for the beggars.

Form IDs: 129394 - 129396

Placed opposite Dunch/Genaro at the Freeside North Gate from this build onwards were these three beggars. No dialogue or even placeholder dialogue topics has surfaced in any of the builds discovered so far so it's likely they simply never had any recorded. They were removed from the game world by the time of the July beta.

Dunch#

FNV_-_Dunch.png

Form ID: 129393

Internal ID VFSDunch. This is a merchant NPC present in Freeside, he has an inventory container named "Dunch's Merchant Container" which contains radroach and rat meat. He has three dialogue topics also. Judging by the nature of the player lines and the contents of his inventory, it is possible he was an early version of the food vendor Genaro, his face model is identical to his also.

Private Ash#

FNV_-_PrivateAsh.png

Form ID: 11F914

Despite the fact that their internal ID is NelsonNCRTrooperHostageCM ("CM" standing for Caucasian Male), this NPC is actually a female. They appear to be an early version of one of the unnamed Nelson hostages present in the final game. She is equipped with a set of random NCR trooper armor, and seems to use the default Caucasian female face.

Unused Script

Lucky38ReactorSCRIPT#

This script shows the original access point for the Follower's bug was the Lucky 38 reactor:

scn Lucky38ReactorSCRIPT ;Stage number

BEGIN gamemode

    set Button to GetButtonPressed

    if ( Button == 1 )
        RewardXP 50
        ;Set VFreeformLucky38.bBuggedTower to 1
        ;SetObjectiveDisplayed vfreeformlucky38 20 1
        ;SetStage vfreeformlucky38 20
        ;SetDestroyed 1
        ;disablePlayerControls
        RewardXP 50
        NVLucky38ReactorRef.Playgroup Forward 0

endif

END

Unused Dialogue

Dunch#

Three unused player lines for the cut NPC Dunch. They are very similar to lines for Genaro in the final game:

What are you serving?

Player

Sure. Serve me up something.

Player

Ah, not right now. Thanks.

Sergeant McCredie#

An unused line for Sergeant McCredie that shows how the quest Flags Of Our Foul Ups would've originally began:

It sounds like you've got a plan.

McCredie

Let's just say their next combat patrol might be a *lot* hotter than they expect if I don't see some improvement soon.

Vulpes Inculta#

An unused player line for Vulpes. Originally, the function to react to the player's exploits belonged to Vulpes, in the form of the below topic. A number of responses for this are present in files recovered from the April 17th build.
