This is a sub-page of Proto:Fallout: New Vegas/April 17, 2010/Unused Audio.
A large amount of dialogue for the early Powder Gang scenario. This includes an earlier version of the quest I Fought The Law, as well as dialogue for NPCs that would later be cut, including the NCRCF hostage. Present also is dialogue for a number of unmarked quests, including Chavez's confinement.
Powder Gangers
Eddie#
Unused dialogue for Eddie which expands upon an alternative version of the quest:
NCRCF Hostage#
Dialogue for part one of the quest I Fought The Law, where Eddie asks the player to execute the hostage:
The player could accept, ponder or flat out refuse the request.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Can I think about it? |
|
Eddie |
I don't need you to fucking think, I need you to answer yes or no. Which is it going to be? |
000D80EE |
Player |
All right I'll do it. Where can I find the hostage? |
|
Eddie |
Head on over to Cell Block A if you wanna finish the hostage up close and personal. Talk to Scrambler and he'll let you into the cell. |
000d7f18 |
Player |
I'm not going to kill anyone. |
|
Eddie |
Not got as much guts as I thought, and definitely no brains. Kill this useless fucker for wasting my time. |
000d7f16 |
The player could also attempt a speech check of 25 to bargain for the hostage's life:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
The NCR might negotiate for him. He's worth more alive than dead. |
|
Eddie |
Maybe, maybe not. I'll let him live a little longer just in case. |
000d7f20 |
Eddie |
Next job will probably be a little dirtier, if you're up for it. |
000d7f20 |
Player |
The guard could still be useful, somehow, if you keep him alive. |
|
Eddie |
I'm not asking you what we should do with him, the decision's made. Now, what's your answer? |
000e454d |
Here the player reports their success:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
I took care of the hostage, just like you asked. |
|
Eddie |
Cold, very cold. I like that. Alright, I've got another job for you to do. |
000d7f21 |
Water Merchant#
Here Eddie introduces the second part of the quest:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|||||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Player |
What do you need me to do now? |
||||||||||||||||
Eddie |
There's a small watering hole west of here, up by the mountains. Good spot to meet and greet travellers, and collect tolls for being in our territory. |
|
|||||||||||||||
Eddie |
Head on over and if anyone's there, shake 'em down. Don't kill them if you don't have to, but don't let them off easy either. |
000d7c48 |
Some dialogue for the player to report on events that occurred at the watering hole:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Eddie |
Got something to tell me? |
000d7049 |
Player |
Found a merchant at the watering hole, but things got ugly. |
|
Eddie |
Tried to fight, huh? Sometimes they're stupid like that. |
000a5ac9 |
Player |
Found a merchant at the watering hole. He's been handled. |
|
Eddie |
You've done good. Eventually, you'll have to split your take with the rest of us, but this one time I'll let you keep it all. |
000d7f17 |
NCR Attack#
The dialogue for introducing the quest is the same as in the final, but the player could ask for an additional reward:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Are you expecting me to scout Primm for free? |
|
Eddie |
100 caps and maybe some chems thrown in for good measure should do you right. |
000a2adb |
Here the player reports back to Eddie, he mentions needing to prep, something that doesn't happen in the final.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
The NCR is gearing up to retake this place. No idea when, but probably soon. |
|
Eddie |
I knew those bastards wouldn't simply let us have this place. Alright, we need to prep. |
000d7047 |
After successful of the quest, Eddie would point the player in Cooke's direction:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Eddie |
Not bad in a fight, are you? I really thought the NCR had us in their sights then. |
000d8037 |
Eddie |
Cooke could probably use someone like you, and having him owe me one can't be a bad thing. This holotape will show him you're on the level. |
000d8037 |
Eddie |
Last I heard Cooke was headed toward Quarry Junction, so start looking for him there. |
000d8037 |
Eddie has two responses for when asked what his plans are following the attack. If 10 or more Powder Gangers had died, Eddie would use the first response.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
What are you going to do now? |
|
Eddie |
Don't have much of a gang left, thanks to the NCR. Thinking of heading north to New Vegas, might even recruit some new boys along the way. |
000da126 |
Player |
What are you going to do now? |
|
Eddie |
I don't think the NCR will be back, so me and the boys are going to stick around for a while longer. |
000da128 |
Scrambler Takeover#
These lines are for asking about the situation between Eddie and Scrambler:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
What can you tell me about the power structure around here? |
|
Eddie |
What the fuck do you mean, power structure? Who the fuck do you see behind the big desk? |
000e8680 |
Eddie |
Me, I'm the fucking power structure. Christ, you're a dumb one. |
000e8680 |
With a speech skill of 55, the player could convince him to follow them to a guard tower:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Eddie |
What's new? |
000d8038 |
Player |
Hey, looks like you've got a problem with the northeast guard tower. |
|
Eddie |
[FAILED] What the fuck ever. |
000e8ea8 |
Eddie |
[SUCCEEDED] Huh? What the fuck are you talking about? Goddammit, I have to do everything myself around here. |
000e8ea9 |
Here, Eddie could be pushed to his demise.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Eddie |
Well, what's the problem? |
000e8ea7 |
Player |
[Push Eddie.] |
|
Eddie |
What? Ahh! |
000e8ea6 |
Generic#
Some generic lines for the prison. Here, the player asks about Cooke's whereabouts, with two different responses dependent on if Cooke is dead or not.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Where is Cooke now? |
|
Eddie |
Like I said, he and his crew went north. I heard talk about some kind of big plan to get back at the NCR, but haven't seen him since. |
000e3306 |
Player |
Where is Cooke now? |
|
Eddie |
Probably dead in the Wasteland somewhere. |
000a0e5f |
Some dialogue for comment on general events happening at the prison:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Chavez is locked in one of the cells. |
|
Eddie |
Not my problem. I'm not wasting any dynamite on him, so he's going to have to get real skinny if he wants out. |
000a23dc |
Player |
If you're free, why are you still here? |
|
Eddie |
Most of the travellers follow the highway north to New Vegas and it's pretty easy to collect a toll, if you shake some dynamite under their nose. |
000e8680 |
Eddie |
It doesn't seem like there's anyone coming south these days, though. |
000e8680 |
Player |
What did you do before you ended up here? |
|
Eddie |
Why do you care? Answer, you shouldn't. I don't feel like trading life stories. |
000d7768 |
Player |
What happened here? |
|
Eddie |
It was all Cooke's idea. He and his boys managed to swipe some dynamite and hide it away in their cells. |
000da70f |
Eddie |
The rest of us just tagged along, Cooke's crew headed north while the rest of us stuck around for payback. |
000da70f |
Player |
Who's Cooke? |
|
Eddie |
One mean son of a bitch. Really, truly hates the NCR for some reason and he got a lot of the other guys around to his way of thinking. |
000e3307 |
Player |
What can you tell me about this place? |
|
Eddie |
They called it a work release prison. Us lucky prisoners got the privilege of fixing up the rail lines, and blasting ruck for new lines. |
000da4f7 |
Eddie |
They got sloppy, though. Some of us managed to hide away some dynamite, and look who's in charge now? |
000da4f7 |
Scrambler#
Early dialogue for Scrambler which gives him a different role in the Powder Gangers. Originally, Scrambler would've stood guard outside the hostage's cell:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Scrambler |
You're not supposed to be here. |
000d71b0 |
Player |
||
Scrambler |
I said you're not supposed to be here. |
000d71b1 |
Player |
Eddie sent me to deal with the hostage. |
|
Scrambler |
I wish he'd make up his mind. I thought the hostage was supposed to be a bargaining chip or something. Fuck it, do whatever. |
000e2c72 |
Here, the player asks about the situation between him and Eddie:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Sounds like your not too happy with Eddie's leadership. |
|
Scrambler |
No shit. Figure that one out all by yourself, did you? |
000e8679 |
With a skill check of 30, the player could convince Scrambler to turn on Eddie:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Can't say he does anything for me, either. Maybe it's time he had an accident. |
|
Scrambler |
Bitch, Eddie would eat your ass alive. You try to scramble him, he'll put a hole in your skull. |
000e867b |
Player |
Can't say he does anything for me, either. Maybe it's time he had an accident. |
|
Scrambler |
Motherfucker, Eddie would eat your ass alive. You try to scramble him, he'll put a hole in your skull. |
000e867c |
Player |
Can't say he does anything for me, either. Maybe it's time he had an accident. |
|
Scrambler |
Hmm, you look like a tough little bitch. Alright, you make your move, my boys will support you. |
000e867d |
Player |
Can't say he does anything for me, either. Maybe it's time he had an accident. |
|
Scrambler |
Hmm, you look like a tough fucker. Alright, you make your move, my boys will support you. |
000e867e |
Some more lines for dealing with Eddie:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Just leave it to me. I think I can take care of him. |
|
Scrambler |
Yeah, sure. Me? I'm not gonna risk getting shot in the face. If you're on, you're on your own. |
000e8ea5 |
Player |
Just making an observation. Anyways... |
|
Scrambler |
What? |
000e8678 |
Player |
Maybe you're right. It's not worth it. |
|
Scrambler |
Thought so, fucking pussy. |
000e8ea4 |
There are some player only lines for reporting back to Scrambler after Eddie has been killed. Responses do not seem to be present however:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
|---|---|
Player |
Yeah, he's dead. |
Player |
Not yet. |
Some general comments on events occurring throughout the prison:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Chavez is locked inside one of the cells. |
|
Scrambler |
Yeah, tough shit. I don't know anything about locks. That coward Hannigan gave it a shot but it didn't work. Big surprise. |
000e3d5d |
Player |
What can you tell me about the power structure around here? |
|
Scrambler |
Power structure? What the fuck are you talking about? Eddie's the one calling the shots. |
000e8685 |
Player |
If you're free, why are you still here? |
|
Scrambler |
Because I fucking feel like it, that's why. Why the fuck do you care? Get out of my face. |
000e3f02 |
Player |
What did you do before you ended up here? |
|
Scrambler |
Whatever I wanted. Got any more stupid questions. |
000e3f00 |
Player |
What happened here? |
|
Scrambler |
The NCR didn't take us seriously. Thought a handful of guards with guns could keep us in line. They thought wrong. |
000e3f00 |
Player |
What was your crime? |
|
Scrambler |
Someone annoyed me, so I cut him into little pieces. Scrambled him real good. |
000e2c73 |
Player |
What can you tell me about this place? |
|
Scrambler |
It was a prison, and now it's not. I've got nothing else to say. |
000e3f01 |
Meyers#
Unused generic dialogue for Meyers:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Who are you? |
|
Meyers |
Just call me Meyers. |
000E3EC4 |
Here Meyers comments on the situation between Eddie and Scrambler:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
What can you tell me about the power structure around here? |
|
Meyers |
Right now, Eddie and his boys run the place. They've got the guns and the dynamite, so they call the shots. |
000e8681 |
Meyers |
You'll see them walking around wearing shades. Thinks it makes them look badass. |
000e8681 |
Meyers |
Steer clear of Scrambler's crew, though. The ones with the mohawks. They're crazy. |
000e8681 |
Meyers |
From what I hear, Scrambler's been feeling pretty antsy under Eddie's leadership. |
000e8681 |
Here he comments on the player freeing Chavez.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Meyers |
It was a decent thing you did for Chavez. |
000a23df |
Carter#
Dialogue for Carter, here he comments on Chavez's confinement:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Chavez is locked inside one of the cells. |
|
Carter |
Yeah, I know. Hannigan took a crack at the lock, but obviously it didn't work. |
000e3d5c |
Here Carter comments on the conflict between Eddie and Scrambler's gangs:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
What can you tell me about the power structure around here? |
|
Carter |
Eddie and his mirrorshades have been calling the shots since the breakout, but I don't think Scrambler's too happy with that arrangement. |
000e8684 |
Carter |
I'd step lightly around anyone with a mohawk, if I was you. They're planning something, I can smell it. |
000e8684 |
Dawes#
Unused dialogue for the front guard of the NCRCF.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Dawes |
Hey there, girlie. You here for Eddie? You should come see me when you're done. Don't worry, I've got caps and psycho. You like psycho? |
00D6F49 |
Player |
I'd like to talk to Eddie. |
|
Dawes |
Looking for a job, huh? He's in the big building, up in the warden's room. Hope you've got something good to say, or he'll kill you. |
00D6F46 |
Player |
Who's in charge? |
|
Dawes |
Looking for a job, huh? He's in the big building, up in the warden's room. Hope you've got something good to say, or he'll kill you. |
00D6F47 |
Player |
One big, happy family, huh? |
|
Dawes |
Don't know about that. Things have been a little tense between Eddie's boys and Scrambler's crew lately. |
008F13A |
Here he comments on Chavez's confinement:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Chavez is locked inside one of the cells. |
|
Dawes |
So what? Don't be expecting me to handle it. |
000a23de |
Player |
||
Dawes |
Just had to go and spoil our fun with Chavez, didn't you? It was fun listening to him cry. |
000e3297 |
Some lines for commenting on general events in the prison:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
What can you tell me about this place? |
|
Dawes |
It's home to us Powder Gangers. Before that, it was a prison. Until we decided to stop being prisoners. |
000d6f4d |
Player |
You friends with Joe Cobb? I ran into him over at Goodsprings. |
|
Dawes |
Fuck that guy. Any con you see outside these walls isn't a friend. |
00135687 |
Hannigan#
Hannigan has dialogue in this build that provides additional background, as well as outlines a cut quest involving giving him either medical advice or an appropriate book.
This dialogue is specifically related to his request for either medical advice or a textbook:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
I can probably teach you more about medicine than any book can. |
|
Hannigan |
Hell, I'll take the advice. I'm all ears. |
000a5ac7 |
Player |
||
Hannigan |
Well, you definitely know a lot more about medicine than I do. Thanks for the help, and here's the stims and caps I promised. |
000a5acb |
Player |
I've got one of those books you were looking for. |
|
Hannigan |
Thanks. Hopefully I can pick up a thing or two. Here's the caps and stims I promised. |
000a5ac6 |
Player |
You're a doctor? |
|
Hannigan |
I was an NCR medic for six months so I'm not exactly a doctor. |
000a5ac8 |
Hannigan |
Do me a favour will you, and keep an eye out for one those books on medicine. I want to make sure Eddie can't easily replace me. |
000a5ac8 |
Hannigan |
Of course. There are stims and caps in it for you, to. |
000a5ac8 |
These lines are related to the cut subplot that saw Chavez locked in a cell. A line from another NPC reveals that Hannigan had previously tried to unlock the door to Chavez's cell:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Chavez is locked inside one of the cells. |
|
Hannigan |
Yeah, we've been passing him food and water. So he's not going to die any time soon. |
000a23dd |
Hannigan |
Take these bobby pins, you might have better luck with that stupid lock. |
000a23dd |
Player |
||
Hannigan |
Heard you got Chavez out. Guess you own him now, am I right? |
000e3298 |
Here he comments on the conflict between Eddie and Scrambler. The filenames for the responses seem to be in wrong order, the lines are presented below in a way that makes more sense:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
What can you tell me about the power structure around here? |
|
Hannigan |
Eddie's the boss. But, uh! You didn't hear this from me, but Scrambler and his gang of spiky haired nutjobs have been acting twitchy recently. |
000e8683 |
Hannigan |
Ask me? They're planning something. |
000e8683 |
Player |
What can you tell me about this place? |
|
Hannigan |
It's where the NCR sends criminals to work of their sentences, by maintaining the local rail lines, or helping make new ones. |
000cec17 |
Chavez#
Dialogue for Chavez, detailing his original scenario before it was changed.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Chavez |
Hey, uh, you think you could get me out? |
000e3293 |
Player |
||
Chavez |
This isn't funny. Somebody get me out. |
000e3294 |
Player |
||
Chavez |
Thanks for getting me out. You're all right. Maybe I can repay the favour someday. |
000e3295 |
Chavez |
Hold on, take my backup gun. It's in pretty good shape, and I was thinking of selling it to Carter. But I owe you. |
000e3295 |
Player |
||
Chavez |
Hey there, friend. |
000e3296 |
Player |
Say I do help you - what's in it for me? |
|
Chavez |
I don't have anything left. I've given it all away. And I'm still in here. |
000e328e |
Player |
Say I do help you - what's in it for me? |
|
Chavez |
One of those other bastards did it to me somehow when my back was turned. Eddie says he hasn't got any key, either. So I'm stuck. |
000e3290 |
Chavez |
I think they're full of it, though. They just like seeing me rot in here. |
000e3290 |
Some dialogue for Chavez to comment on general events happening at the prison:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
How did you end up in prison? |
|
Chavez |
I'm from a small town back in new Cal called Redding. Got drunk one night and killed a guy, now I'm here. |
000cec14 |
Player |
What can you tell me about the power structure around here? |
|
Chavez |
Things are basically broken down into two camps, Eddie's boys, you'll see them walking around wearing shades. |
000e8686 |
Chavez |
Lately, Scrambler's been getting a lot of guys on his side. They've started wearing mohawks and talking a lot of shit. |
000e8686 |
Chavez |
Then, of course, some of us are starting to wonder if Meyers has the right idea and we should all just keep our heads down. |
000e8686 |
Eddie's Bodyguard#
Some dialogue for Eddie's cut bodyguard NPC. He could also be asked about the power structure, but that dialogue is shared with the other Eddie gang members.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
I'm here to see Eddie. |
|
Powder Ganger |
You sure about that? You waste his time, and he'll kill you. |
00135684 |
Player |
I'm sure. Let me in. |
|
Powder Ganger |
It's your ass, then. |
00135686 |
Player |
Goodbye. |
|
Powder Ganger |
Get out of here. |
00135685 |
Eddie Gang Member#

Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
What can you tell me about the power structure around here? |
|
Powder Ganger |
My man Eddie's in charge. And don't let anybody tell you different. |
000e8682 |
Powder Ganger |
If you know what's good for you, you'll give anybody wearing shades a wide berth. Eddie don't like anybody fucking with his crew. |
000e8682 |
Scrambler Gang Member#
Members of Scrambler's gang, named "ScramblerGanger" internally. The player could ask them about the power struggle taking place here:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |

Player |
What can you tell me about the power structure around here? |

New California Republic
NCRCF Hostage#
Generic dialogue for the NCRCF hostage that the player would have been able to rescue from the prison:
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
||
Hostage |
Please don't kill me. |
000e4a24 |
Player |
Who are you? |
|
Hostage |
I was one of the guards, they killed the rest. |
000e4a23 |
Player |
What happened here? |
|
Hostage |
The prisoners got dynamite into the cell blocks somehow. No idea how, but they did. |
000da710 |
Hostage |
Everyone's dead except me. If we'd had more to watch the prison, this never would have happened. |
000da710 |
Player |
Killing you is business. Nothing personal. |
|
Hostage |
No... |
000da713 |
Here the player tells the hostage of his intent to kill them. With a medicine skill of 25, the player could administer medicine to kill him instead. The player line says "a lot less painless" - this may be a typo, as the intention behind the action seems to be to give the hostage a quick death.
Speaker |
Dialogue |
Form ID |
|---|---|---|
Player |
Take this medicine - it'll make your death a lot less painless. |
|
Hostage |

|
Hostage |
What about the Gangers? |
000e4a25 |
Player |
You should be fine - go for it. |
|
Hostage |
All right, here I go. I'll meet up with you in Jean, that small town just west of the prison. |
000e4a27 |
Player |
On second thought, wait here for now. |
|
Hostage |
All right. |

000d776a |

000d776a |
Player |
Good luck. |
|
Hostage |
Watch you're back out there. |
000d7769 |
Player |
You don't owe me a thing. |
|
Hostage |
No, I do. And I always pay up. Watch your back out there. |
000d7767 |
Player |
You'd better make it worth my time. |
|
Hostage |
Oh, right. Don't worry about it. I always pay up. Until then, just watch your back. |

If you pay up, they'll make sure no one else in this territory harasses you. |
|
Merchant |
Protection money for safe passage? Alright, since you put it that way, here's all the caps I can spare. |

Forget it. Just get out of here. |
|
Merchant |
Yeah, don't expect to see us around these parts again. |

This is powder gang territory, and there's a toll. |
|
Merchant |

00DA125 |
Merchant |

You should leave this area. The powder gangers are watching this spot. |
|
Merchant |
Thanks for the help, stranger. I already gave up most of my inventory to another pack of those bastards up north. |

Don't make me kill you over a few caps. Is it worth it? |
|
Merchant |
Fine. Take what I have. I don't care anymore. |

What are you doing here? |
|
Merchant |
This is one of the few sources of clean water for miles. It's best to fill up when you have the chance. |
