This is a sub-page of Proto:Fallout: New Vegas/July 21, 2010.

A number of test maps are present within the files for this build. Some were removed by the time of the final, others have object layouts present here but are empty in the final game.

To do:

  • Document TestMap02
  • Check to see if there are any changes to TestMap01

Test Maps#

Apartment01Interior#

I wonder where they put Clutterbane?FONVJuly_-_ApartmentInt01.png Named Apartment01Int in game, this building resembles the Monte Carlo suites, Casa Madrid and The Grey in structure. Basic amenities like beds, fridges and firehose boxes are present, but the level itself is devoid of any clutter, suggesting it was used as a template of sorts.

Audio Test Level#

FONVJuly_-_AudioTestLevelSS.pngFONVJuly_-_AudioTestLevel.png An interesting test level consisting of a number of different of rooms functioning as booths. Within each room is a sign with a sign labelled with the name of a material in the game, i.e cloth. Shooting the sign will produce the impact sound associated with that material.

Dev Armory#

FONVJuly_-_DevArmorySS.pngFONVJuly_-_DevArmory.png An interior with an in game name of Armory. This space was presumably used to test weapons, however in the beta build there is a collection of snowglobes there, as well as a chest only containing a Brothehood scribe robe and 9999 Microfusion cells. There is an interesting visual effect here, created by re-using assets from Fallout 3's Copernicus Planetarium location.

HotelHighEnd#

FONVJuly_-_HotelHighEndSS.pngFONVJuly_-_HotelHighEnd.png A number of lights and a COC marker. The way the lights were arranged suggests they was a layout here once, seemingly lost now.

TestAnddy#

FONVJuly_-_TestAndyySS.pngFONVJuly_-_TestAnddy.png A shooting range of sorts. Present within are two mailboxes containing instances of all the game's ammunition and weapon types. There are a number of generic ammo boxes present also along with Theo's ammo box from Fallout 3. Of note is the presence of an NPC named Fodder Helper, this NPC has bright yellow and is twice the size of the player character. He is set to shoot indefinitely at the wall parallel to him.

TestAnddyExt#

FONVJuly_-_TestAndyExtSS.pngFONVJuly_-_TestAnddyExt.png The same map, without the ammo boxes and with a different lighting pre-set, more closely resembling an exterior space.

TestArmorFaction#

FONVJuly_-_TestArmorFactionSS.pngFONVJuly_-_TestArmorFaction.png Two extremely dark small rooms, one empty and one populated with an NCR Trooper and sniffer guard dog. Presumably to test faction Armor disguises.

TestCrucifx#

FONVJuly_-_TestCrucifixSS.pngFONVJuly_-_TestCrucifix.png A small room, with a DrunkTestMale and a crucified woman in a prostitute uniform, also labelled DrunkTestMale. There is a pony express box as well as assorted weapons present in the room also. The crucified victim is not bound to the crucifix, and may wander off at any time.

TestDance#

FONVJuly_-_TestDanceSS.pngFONVJuly_-_TestDance.png Empty in the final, here the space is populated with a number of gamblers, Gomorrah prostitutes, a roulette wheel and Mr House. Interesting, there is a male here clad in a Legion uniform named "Gomorrah Prostitute", set to occupy the crucifix to the left of the space.

TestFancy#

FONVJuly_-_TestFancySS.pngFONVJuly_-_TestFancy.png Populated with a number of Great Khans, Powder Gangers and Nightkin. Nothing else interesting appears to be placed in this cell.

TestNuka#

FONVJuly_-_TestNukaSS.pngFONVJuly_-_TestNuka.png Seemingly identical to TestFancy.

TestPsycho#

FONVJuly_-_TestPsychoSS.pngFONVJuly_-_TestPsycho.png This cell appears to empty, with just the basic layout and COC marker present.
