Sega's entry into the 32-bit console era, the Saturn was a powerful 2D-oriented machine that had a second processor nailed on at the last minute in response to the PlayStation, causing it to be something of a nightmare to develop for. To further complicate matters, 3D geometry was constructed out of quadrilaterals instead of polygons.
The system was popular in Japan (thanks in part to a very fun series of commercials with spokescharacter Segata Sanshiro), but never really took off in the US due to a surprise early launch (leaving retailers surprised as well) and Bernie Stolar's infamous "five-star game" policy (resulting in localizations being scarce at best, especially RPGs).
If it were named after the planet after it, it would be the butt of all gamer jokes.
