Pandemonium! (Sega Saturn)

Pandemonium! is a 2.5D platformer from the developers of Star Control II and The Horde. Set in the kingdom of Lyr, the player controls either Nikki, an acrobat or Fargus, a jester. The duo is tasked with reaching a Wishing Engine in order to save a village from a beast named Yungo, whom they inadvertently summoned.

Regional Differences#

When Bandai brought the game over to Japan, they decided to rename the game to Magical Hoppers and completely change the main two characters, with Fargus and Nikki being replaced with characters known as Clam and Guppy. As a result, a few changes were made.

Title Screen#

• The Japanese version naturally has a completely unique logo as a result of the game's changed name.
• The Japanese Saturn version has an exclusive title screen before the main menu.
• The main menu in the Japanese Saturn version has a black background and no copyright information.

International	Japan

Cutscenes#

The Japanese version has a different story and completely different cutscenes. The Japanese Saturn version has traditional 2D animated cutscenes while the international version has CGI cutscenes.

Other changes#

• The Japanese Saturn version has a screenshot of the character the player is playing as when they finish a level, rather than having the character run forwards with a blank background.
• Clam in the Japanese version has a roll attack while Fargus from the international versions has a cartwheel attack.
