Specifically: See if the password screen still exists in the Japanese version's files. Additionally, see if the cheats are still present in the Japanese version and see if they can still be activated through normal means.

Unlike the first game, Bandai decided not to completely change the story and characters for the Japanese market. Despite that, various changes were still made to the game.

  • The game was renamed to Miracle Jumpers, with the title screen naturally having a new logo and updated copyright information.

North America/Europe

Japan

  • The Midway logo in the North American version was replaced with the Bandai logo.
    • While the Midway logo is not present in the European or Japanese versions, there are still mentions of it in both versions' files.
  • The options menu is missing the cylinder surrounding the music/SFX volume.
  • In the international versions, the player only has the choice to go back on the options menu to save their choices. In the Japanese version, the player can either accept their changes or go back and discard their changes.

  • The Happy Faces used for lives have been changed to a moon-like pendant-type.
  • The password system has been removed and replaced with a save system. After completing a level, the player is given the option to save to the memory card.
    • The save menus, notably, are in Japanese as opposed to the rest of the game's text remaining in English.
    • The removal of passwords also removes the ability to enter cheats.
  • The preview trailer for Gex: Enter the Gecko has been removed from the main menu. The trailer is still present in the files.
  • The in-game English text font was changed from a unique font (featuring symbols in place of letters, e.g., "E" uses the "Sigma" symbol (Σ)) to a standard Latin font.
  • The player starts off with 8 hit points, as opposed to 4, then upgrading to 8 after the first boss.
  • The menu for quitting the game, accessed by pressing Select after pausing, was revised, mapping the commands to the buttons instead of menu selections.
