Unused Graphics#
An image that says "Temporary collision detection".
Another unused image, which reads "Temporary Skill dojo • Rare".
wallpaper_sub01.img is a picture with several vertical bars of various colors with the word "DEBUG" on top.
(mysterydungeonwiki.com: Blue)
There are two pictures for each possible partner: bg/im01_01a_pika.img, bg/im01_01a_pika_a.img, bg/im01_01b_tsuta.img, bg/im01_01b_tsuta_a.img, bg/im01_01c_poka.img, bg/im01_01c_poka_a.img, bg/im01_01d_miju.img, bg/im01_01d_miju_a.img, bg/im01_01e_kiba.img, and bg/im01_01e_kiba_a.img. All of them look the same: four vertical bars of various colors. It has been speculated that these pictures might have been intended to appear as the background picture while selecting the partner.

Demo Leftover#
Found in image_2d is a image called trial_ver.img. It is leftover from a demo version of the game.
Unused Main Menu Artwork#
Two unused Main Menu illustrations can be found in the files. One shows Oshawott, Tepig, Emolga, and Dunsparce in Paradise in Companion Mode, while the other shows a party consisting of Snivy, Axew, Carracosta, and Gothorita opening a chest while inside a dungeon. The events depicted in the latter never happen in the actual game.

Unused Models#
Dummy Model#
An unused charcoal Pikachu model with four copies of the word "Dummy" placed on it.
Sample_Box#
A simple green cube.
Unused Sounds#
SE_ACT_TRAP_ON#
This is meant to be a generic sound effect for stepping on a tile or trap, and is identical to the one used in the Boukendan games. Since Gates to Infinity uses sound effects individual to the particular tile or trap in question instead, this one is left unused here.
Blank Sound#
Found in sound/stream is this short sound, meant for testing sound effects. However, many of these sound files share the same exact sound, which are listed below. The sound's internal name was later revealed to be SE_SYS_NO_SELECT in Rescue Team DX.

Oddities#
The 3DS Home Menu banner appears to use an earlier version of the Pikachu model that's slightly taller and has a bigger tail and smaller back stripes.
The next game would use the final Pikachu model that matches the one in-game.
Regional Differences#
- In the Japanese version, the player is allowed to choose the partner's gender at the start of the game. This was removed in the American and European versions, where the partner is always male; unlike any other game in the series, they're also referred to as such in English dialogue. Like many other aspects of the game, this is handled by a lua script, which can be edited to restore the feature in the European and American versions.
