Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD

This page covers the HD remaster of Dream Drop Distance.
It contains some unique content compared to the original Nintendo 3DS release''.

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD is a HD remaster of the Nintendo 3DS game with the same name. Besides the obvious improved framerate and textures, there's a couple of new Dream Eaters to summon and reworked minigames due to the lack of a second screen.

It would also receive a cloud version exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, only for it to shut down years later. Although at least it would receive a Nintendo Switch 2 port and other modern systems in the "KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III]".

Unused Animations#

Reality Shift Diving#

Sora

Riku

p_ex01_001_055.pam and p_ex02_001_055.pam each contain animations of Sora and Riku doing reality shift dives, which were replaced in the HD remaster with the animation used for magic commands like Zero Gravity and Sleep.

Unused Music#

bgm_019#

bgm_019.scd contains the battle theme for Twilight Town when Sora becomes playable in Kingdom Hearts II, "Working Together". Given that it also plays in Birth by Sleep whenever Unversed are encountered at the Mysterious Tower and that Dream Drop Distance has the same location, this is a leftover from that entry. What makes it interesting though is that this unused track only exists in the HD version. Meaning either the development team used an earlier build or somehow accidentally re-added the unused tracks to the BGM folder.
