Unused Text#

Normally, the condition for fighting the hidden boss GranDragn is to collect the first 155 bronze and silver Monster Medals to open the doors to his lair. However, unused dialog found at 1BF3F9 suggests a little something extra...

Humans… Here… Quite remarkable.
I am Gran Dragon, the master of this temple.
If you wish to challenge me, then
gather the gold Monster Medals.
All of them.
Until then, I will wait right here.

Unused Mode#

In the final game the only available link features involve trading Monster Medals with other players, but unused dialog at 1939D5 and 19D709 seem to suggest that there was competitive mode featuring the Pachisi mini-game found in the main game. Based on the dialog it seems that it would have been possible to select from multiple tracks, and that the winner would be allowed to choose a Monster Medal as a reward. Potentially tying the unused mode with the unused Dragon Warrior IV Monster Medal graphics also found in the data.
