Wii Party U is a sequel to the original Wii Party, however for the Wii U. It adds many GamePad centric modes and naturally has a decent amount of unused content.

Developer Leftovers#
A bit of interesting dev content were left in the game's files.
Manual#
The JPEGS in the games manual have metadata, the meta data tells us that the images were originally taken April 2013 and edited with Adobe CS 5.1 in May 2013, the images don't have any visual differences from the final game, and they are all in very low compressed resolution.
Debug Font GTX#
Inside font.bin, there is a debug gtx, containing a huge amount of text, the middle is Japanese, the end is Chinese and the beginning is many different languages.

Debug Config Files#
Every Minigame in the game has a config file.

Oddities#
|
|
Please elaborate. |
The game can handle most minigames with only one player (i.e. without CPUs) just fine. Considering the game allows at minimum 2 Miis to be in play, it's possible at one point you've been able to play by yourself.
Placeholder Audio#
All audio files which are tests or placeholders are the exact same simple beeping. Wii Party U Placeholder Audio

Beta GamePad Party Instructions#
These seem like beta instructions for the GamePad Party minigames.

Unused Graphics#
Project Name (a.k.a. NexPy)#

Miis that were probably used as placeholders.

Illustrations#

Player 5 Pointer#
Unused pointers for seemingly a fifth player are present in the folder where the other pointer icons are contained. Since the Wii U only supports up to four Wii Remotes to be connected at a time, it can be assumed either the GamePad would've had even more use or support for other controllers were considered at one point.
Player 0 Minigame Status#
Player 5 Minigame Status#

Player 5 PC#
There are many graphics for clothes seen in gamemodes which were designed for what would've been a 5th player.
Unused Minigame Textures#
|
|
To do: |
nmg404 Moonbase Escape#
There seems to have been plans for making Moonbase Escape a longer minigame. There are textures for doors numbered 11-20, but in the final game, there's only 10 doors.
nmg406 Jumping Target#
In the final game, there are "doors" for 10, 30 and 50 points. However, in the files exists a 5 point texture.

nmg407 Heart Targets#
This minigame has some unused textures. Most of these are heavily obscured, and are impossible to spot since they are outside the house.

nmg410 Ice Spinners#
Technically, the ceiling is just about unused due to being impossible to see.

Unused Party Mode Textures#
There are many main TV Party modes, and consequently, many unused textures left inside.
npg001 GamePad Island#
GamePad Island, known as the (planned) "big hit" for Wii Party U! However, you'll need 2 or more players and CPUs aren't playable.

Those images are what can be found.
npg002 Mii Fashion Plaza#
This one unfortunately has very little unused content, however! Still, there is one thing in the space sheet. The clown costume has a unused slot where the Mario costume is used, instead in the final game, it's yellow-coded only and is never red-coded.
npg004 Lost-And-Found-Square#
This party mode has quite a bit of cut content. For some reason, there are a ton of prototype assets left over from early in development, showing off a more playful and colorful version of Wii Party U.

As you can see, NPG004 is massive, not for content about itself, but about the prototype leftovers inside it.
Regional Differences#
|
|
To do: |
They had to make some changes between the Japanese and North American and European release of the game.
Tabletop Flipping#

Different Game Placement#
Feed Mii!, Dance with Mii, Lost-and-Found Square and Sketchy Situation are all in different spots.
