DreamShot#
DreamShot was a feature from Hot Pursuit 2010, which was supposed to return here but was cut late in development. Graphics remain in the game's files, and messing with menu values can make them viewable in-game, and it even creates a DreamShot folder in your documents.
Cinematic Mode#

|
This page or section needs more images. |
A hidden graphics setting called cinematic was meant to be used for trailers or pre-release screenshots. Enabling that boosts the graphics beyond High preset in-game, like increasing effects resolution and LODs, and others. The difference might not be noticeable unless comparing images could help.

Removed Songs#
- Similar to Hot Pursuit 2010, the song "Firestarter" by The Prodigy was featured in the E3 trailer but is not featured in the final game. Text files still mention this song, though.
- Another cut song mentioned in text files is Hot Action Cop's "Fever for the Flava", the song from Hot Pursuit 2.
Removed Cars#
According to text files, these cars were removed during development:
Subaru Impreza WRX STi (GR non-Cosworth Version)
BMW M3 E46 (non-GTR version)
Aston Martin DB9
BMW M1
Renders also show a C2 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray and the BMW M3 GTR (E46). Both were removed in the final game, however, the M3 GTR was brought back in the NFS Heroes DLC as the Most Wanted car. Both vehicle were playable in older builds.
Removed Manufacturers#
According to the game's files, the manufacturers of Toyota, Hummer, and Jeep were cut. Toyota only has a single line of text, despite it's luxury division and later confirmed from an prototype build reveal full name for this brand is TOYOTA ARMOURED HILUX MNU 2009 , Lexus appearing in the actual game with the LF-A, however, Hummer and Jeep have car switch videos in the game's files.
Playable Nissan Versa#
While the Nissan Versa can be seen as a non-playable traffic car in the game, there was a time when the car was used as a substitute after getting arrested by the Fairhaven City Police Department, the idea was scrapped not long after the Gamescom presentation. Performance statistics and police voice lines are still remain in the final game.
Removed Pagani Huayra NFS Edition#
Data of a removed NFS Edition car can be found in the game files, interestingly, unlike the other NFS Edition cars in the game, the Pagani Huayra NFS Edition uses its own model with minor differences compared to its stock counterpart. Funnily enough, the car can still be seen in the multiplayer trailer of the game.

Removed Cars In-Game#
So far, 3 cars got modded back into the game, these 3 are the Hummer H1, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, and Chevrolet Corvette C2 Sting Ray, here are the 3 videos for them in-game for a detailed look. All of them are used in the mobile port of the game.

Unused Menu Video#
The video files for Most Wanted include a menu leftover from early development builds of the game back when the game was being developed as a direct sequel to Most Wanted 2005; it depicts a parked BMW M3 Coupe (E92) in an otherwise moody environment, similar to that of the older Most Wanted game from 2005.
Beta Leftovers#
A video showing leftovers of the Beta stuff still appearing in the base game.
Unused Audio#
Several unused audio streams in the SPS container format remain present in the game's files.
Unused Music#
In UI/SONGS, unused orchestral tracks can be found, presumably intended for pursuits.
31194.SPS 116502.SPS 116503.SPS 116504.SPS 116505.SPS 116506.SPS
Unused Ambience#
Unused ambiences and menu themes also may be found in UI/SONGS.
14729.SPS 14730.SPS 384153.SPS
- The latter one was presumably used in a leftover title screen found in
UI/Movies.
Garages#
According to text files, you were supposed to have garages in early versions of the game.

Most Wanted Tech#
Watch on YouTubePresumably, these were player weapons that were cut. Lots of text files mention these.
Be first to the finish of this multiple lap race against several brutal and
well equipped opponents.<lf><lf>Use driving skill and tactical use of tech
to deal with any Police, Opponents, or Traffic that get in your way.
The Most Wanted Car has been identified as the Mitsubishi Lancer EVOLUTION X

However, a game trailer from 2011 shows 2 cut "Blacklist Weapons"
- Spikestrip - With the same use as in [https://new.tcrf.net/Need_for_Speed:_Hot_Pursuit_(Windows,_Xbox_360,_PlayStation_3) Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010)], a spikestrip can be deployed from the rear of our car.
- Arclight - The way of how Arclight works is not shown in the trailer, though it was used before driving under a lorry.
These along with other weapons (such as the aforementioned Black Ice TPP-327) are usable in prototypes (albeit heavily unfinished in some of the prototypes).
Ranking System#
Text files indicate that the game had a ranking system similar to its predecessor, Hot Pursuit.

Slim Jim SRT8 Charger Leftover#
A promotion for the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 from a Slim Jim event which was made for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 only. However, for some reason, this car is fully drivable on PS Vita and Wii U, and was left completely unused on these platforms.
The car itself is only drivable in multiplayer, much like the Ford Focus ST. However, a PC mod is available that allows players to drive both cars in single-player mode, complete with full sets of eight events each and two jack spots (taken from other vehicles' jack spots). The mod also reveals that the police have unique voice lines recognizing the Charger, which ended up being used for the Dodge Charger R/T from the Movie Legends DLC pack.
Revisional Differences#
Wii U#
Due to being released about five months after the initial console releases, the Wii U version has some changes compared to its counterparts on other consoles.
General difference#
- Title changed to Need for Speed: Most Wanted U.
- The prologue starts at nighttime instead of daytime.
- Like the PC version, using a custom music playlist is not possible.
- There's a completely different loading screen compared to other versions of the game.
- The Ultimate Speed Pack is pre-installed in the Wii U version. The other DLCs never got added, meaning this is the only version of the main game to not have the airport or content that come with the other downloadable contents, this is also the only version of the main version to lack an ingame store.
- This version is very prone to randomly crash not only the game but also the ENTIRE WII U! So... you don't only takedown cars in this version, you do the same with your Wii U!
Exclusive content and features#
By pressing the - (Minus) button, you can change how the main screen behave, either it has all the UI and the gamepad serves as a co-driver (using the Co-drivers features) or the gamepad serves as the main screen with all the UI and the TV turns into spectator mode where the UI is absent.
- Another gamepad functionality is the previously mentioned Co-Driver feature where 2 people can control the car at the same time or make the other player use the minimap or other gamepad exclusive stuff (see below) to help :
- "Disrupt Cops", a Wii U exclusive feature which causes cops to lose control in a pursuit.
- Ability to change cars and it's colors on the spot, this is possible via both the Easydrive menu and gamepad.
- Note: the jackspots are not unlocked and you can't drive the Most Wanted's cars until you beat them and takedown their cars.
- Ability to change time of day.
- Option to turn traffic on or off.
- The map on the gamepad render visible undiscovered jackpots, with a transparent version of the jackspot logo, similarly, the other collectibles also have this functionality.
- Exclusive Nintendo Easter eggs added. This add 3 warp pipes that will teleport you to their respective special zone (1-1, 2-1 and 3-1) (with the name of some of the developers on the walls), each with a car with Super Mario themed livery (Mario (Ariel Atom), Peach (Caterham R500 Superlight) and Yoshi (BAC Mono)).
- Those can't be repainted or selected by the easydrive menu afterward (to reuse them you need to grab them again) and the repaint option on their base model doesn't have the liveries. By collecting them all, It unlocks 5 exclusive license plates for the player to use (, Plumber, princess, Dinosaur and Caught them all. Progress is shared between the easter egg and normal versions.
- Since the online is defunct on the Wii U version, those license plates can't be really seen anymore and multiple online-only cars cannot be seen in this version without modding.
- Every car fitted with "Boost U", the Wii U version of Burn Nitrous, as standard (including in the prologue), replacing the option to not use nitrous. The boost bar turn a shade of cyan-turquoise (around #30ffff) when equipped. It has stats bonus when using it, this is also the only upgrade to not have a pro variant and it also lacks the "standard" text.
- While this is probably a bug, selecting it deselect the other upgrades, this bug also happens when spawning after launching the game.
- Miiverse functionalities.
- Drawings and messages from the game's community on Miiverse were shown when AFK. With the shutdown of Miiverse, this doesn't work anymore on unmodded consoles (Pretendo resurrected the Miiverse community for this game and it works as expected).
- Your Mii's face replace the avatar (for example when you destroy a billboard).
- This is also the case of when friends does and beat your score or before the credits roll where there is comments by the team responsible of the Wii U version (except for 3 people though which uses the default avatar from other versions))
UI difference#
- Highlights on the minimap (and the map) are blue instead of red.
- The icons of players are changed from arrows to cars on the minimap.
