The mobile ports of the 2012 Need for Speed: Most Wanted (NO, NOT YOU, J2ME) notably uses some of the content that was cut from the PC and console versions (like cars or the takedown camera). Some traces in and out of the game suggest it a deeper relationship between this game and the main version. Also, the Most Wanted aren't known by the name of their cars in this alternate Fairhaven.
Development Text#
- The game is called both "Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2" and "NFS 13" in the files, according to config.properties.

- The speedometer font has the name hawaiidigitalnumbers. "hawaii" was one of Most Wanted 2012's codenames, it's also dated inside of the November 2, 2011 (which put it between the September 16, 2011 and November 24, 2011 prototypes of the PC and console version when the game was still more Most Wanted '05-esque). The R and N from it cannot be seen in-game in the mobile version, but were seen in builds of the main version.
- Prototypes of the main version from that time (the ones mentioned above and probably others) referred to a Most Wanted Mobile.
Debug Text#
In assets/Downloadcontent, at the end of every language file there is the following string:
Debug Test Title
Unused Graphics#
There are multiple unused skydomes.
In the winset/packages folder there are two folders: the iOS and the Android one. In the Android one, there are two files called EASP.Packages and EASP1.Packages, respectively, while the iOS ones are called ESP and ESP1 with the same file extension. While this may seem inconspicuous, there are actually 60 more files in EASP than ESP along with, you guessed it, unused graphics.
While there is a similar file along with it, it's slightly different (the image is shifted a bit downward) and has different text.

Musical and Sound-Related Oddities#
Voicelines#
- The French cop voiceover has six fewer tracks than the English version (dispatch_busting, dispatch_busting_2, dispatch_opener_1, dispatch_opener_2, dispatch_opener_3, and dispatch_opener_4).
Sounds#
- The folder containing the spike strip sounds is called "blacklisttech" and the folder containing the rest of the spikestrip data is also called "blacklisttech" but is in another folder. In-game, the spikestrips are exclusively dropped by the cops, not by the blacklist racers.
- A possible explanation come from early prototypes of the main version, where the spikestrips (among others) was a weapon usable by the player and said weapons were apparently gained by beating blacklist members.
Music#
- There is a track called intro.fsb, but the game doesn't feature one. It's a 45 seconds loop of the main menu theme from The Run. That's the only .fsb file in the sound folder.
While not unused stuff, there are a few interesting things to note:
- Multiple tracks have the same track number (03 and 06), while most of them doesn't even have one. It seems that said track numbers correspond to the track numbers in their respective album.
- One of the tracks has "UPDATED" in its name.
- The mp3 were encoded by Fraunhofer IIS MP3 v04.01.02 (high quality) but the encoded tag doesn't exist on the .fsb.
- Telepathy by ††† (crosses) is called _elepa_hy MAINMIX122bpm in the files. It seems the † (a cross emoticon) were replaced with _ (an underscore).
- This only affect the file's name and not the in-game music player as it uses T instead of a cross, additionally the artist name in the music player is Crosses, while in the PC and console versions, it is : ††† (Crosses).
- I Am Electric by Heaven's basement is called Heavans Basement I Am ElectricCLEAN. There is a typo in Heaven's basement in the name of the file but it was corrected in the in-game music player.
- The one above and multiple other has CLEAN in the name when the track were censored.
- Won't Get Fooled Again (Cato remix) does not have lyrics in this version.
Unused track#
There is hidden called "test_openworld" in game files, and this files added in last game update
Blacklist difference#
The mobile release of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) also features a List to climb. The player can challenge each of the top ten vehicles in this alternate Fairhaven to a race after earning enough medals from a certain number of career events (speed points are instead used to unlock the option of buying a car).
Key differences#

|
To do:
|
- Those cars have an exclusive livery instead of the white paint of the PC and console version, said livery can be used if the car is bought and repainted.
- The opponent's introduction cinematics is more in the style of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)'s ones, instead of the more abstract videos of the main version.
- Defeating a rival will unlock their vehicle for purchase in the garage. You also don't have to take down your rival in this version.
- There is no blacklist opponents locked behind DLC for this version (as there isn't any DLC in the first place).
Note : The BMW M3 (E46) GTR is buyable only after becoming first on the list.
The ones listed below have some interest.

This could be unrelated, but the car was also a blacklist member in a prototype of the main console game according to this section of the PC and Console game article. |
(Source: Need For Speed wiki)
It's possible that this blacklist is derived from the Gamescom build (or another from around the same time) as it apparently has a very similar blacklist though without the unique livery of the mobile version.
Revisional Differences#
Based on the changelog from the Apple App Store.
Note: The Pagani Zonda R is in the Ultimate Speed DLC on the PC and console version, DLC that came out the day before.

Regional Differences#
Samsung Note edition (2013)#
There was a special game release for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 device under version 1.1.30.
- Along with the regular game content, this release featured a unique Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 "Samsung Apps" edition with its own car slot and blue livery. This car was slightly faster than the regular 911 Turbo 3.0 and was available for free, if player completed a new Hot Ride event using the same vehicle.
- The ID of this new event is marked as #63, which comes right after the Marussia & Zonda R events from the game update.
- Unlike the regular game release where MOGA devices are the only supported gamepad option, any Android-compatible gamepad could be used here.
- Some billboards were replaced with Samsung Apps logos.
- Unlike the main Android release, the Motion Blur effect here is enabled at all times.
