This is a sub-page of Proto:Pizza Tower.

PTsage2019screenshot.png During 2019's Sonic Amateur Gaming Expo (or SAGE for short), an exclusive demo of the game was released, adding Snick the Porcupine as a temporary character, new stages to check out, a "Snick Challenge" mode, and a lot of unused content.

To do:

  • Level differences between here and the final game, including the PP_room tutorial.
  • What about differences between the Desert revisions, the Blue Block Land revisions, the Let's Go To SAGE revisions, the SAGE 2019 revisions, Noise's Hardoween, Co-op, December, & the final game (perhaps with the revisions of the final game as well?)? (Yes, differences between here and the final game were already in the todo, but there are other differences too.)

Unused Rooms#

To do:
There are 5 unused floors that once were featured in early Patreon builds, called floor1-floor5. Add info about these unused rooms and possibly add some videos showing them. Also see if these were repurposed in any way. The names are definitely taken/inspired by older builds, and said names are definitely used in the final game.

Entrance#

Watch on YouTubeThis stage is an unfinished version of what would eventually become John Gutter, leftover from the 2019-09-03 build (aka Let's Go to SAGE). The level's layout resembles what it was like in the Blue Block Land demos, but now fully tiled. However, the stage is much shorter, there's no music, and some decorations are missing.

leveltransitioncutscene#

Up you go

This room was left over from older builds, notably the Early entrance demo.

Whenever the player gets a key and enters a locked door with it, this cutscene of Peppino running up the stairs plays. However, in the SAGE 2019 demo, entering a locked door with a key simply sends the player to the next room without a cutscene, leaving this room to become unused.

Unused Characters#

"Playable" Noise#

Watch on YouTubeWhile he seems to be a heavy work in progress, there are traces of a playable Noise! Some things to note are that:

  • He is completely playable, however most of his animations seem to be unfinished, swapping out for Peppino's when there is no other animation.
  • He can throw bombs (albeit with the Pizza Box Goblin bomb sprite), roll around at the speed of sound, double jump, but is very glitchy.
  • He also has his own victory screen animations for every rank in-game like in the final.

Enemy Differences#

  • The Pizzards' lightning originally was once able to grant the Knight transformation, as an optional alternative to the sword pickup.

Oddities#

  • While Snick only has 4 taunts, there are oddly 5 taunt sprites in the files, from "spr_snick_taunt_0" to "spr_snick_taunt_4". The 5th sprite is a duplicate of his "Hedgehog Stew" taunt, which goes unused.
