This is a sub-page of Prerelease:Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64).
In order to get the kiosks built in time for the show, as they require lots of time to assemble, an older version of the game was left inside them than the one seen on the main showfloor. Most notably this version of the game still featured the old HUD graphics for the Coin, Mario and Star icons. Other sources from around the time of E3 1996 feature a very similar (if not identical) build, it will be documented here along with the kiosk build. According to various files in the Gigaleak, this build is dated sometime between April 25th & April 30th 1996.

- Black smoke appears after Mario blasts out of a cannon. While this smoke was removed from the final game, the code for it was found in the July 2020 Gigaleak.
- Bubbly trees still use different textures with harsher shading; they're also noticeably darker. The model and textures for this tree were also found in the Gigaleak.
- The cannon's base is wider, with the barrel clipping into it. Though unlike the Shoshinkai '95 model, the inner sides of the base are modeled, and the base is not as short.
- Coins have rectangular imprints, like all previous builds.
- No aiming reticule on the cannon.
- There are no dust particles after being shot out of a cannon, they only show up when Mario starts flying.

- Footage of this stage's Star Select shows that Stars 2 and 3 are swapped, so Shoot To The Island In The Sky was mission 2, and Footrace with Koopa The Quick was mission 3.
- The text for the Koopa mission was also changed: it was originally "はくねつ のこのこレース" but was later changed to "はくねつ ノコノコレース"; both mean the same thing, but the "Noko Noko" part originally used Hiragana instead of Katakana.
- Both of these differences can also be found in a file containing early Japanese Star names in the Gigaleak, dated April 25th, 1996. This build is likely from the same time period.
- Bob-omb Buddies walk in circles, like normal Bob-ombs, when Mario isn't in their radius.
